Review: Illamasqua Kink Nail Varnish

Illamasqua Nail Polish in "Kink"
Another lovely nail polish from Illamasqua!  This one is from their "rubber" finish line.  The rubber finish polishes have a rubberized cap (it feels like NARS packaging) unlike their typical polishes which have a plastic cap.  I read the rubber finishes don't wear as long as regular Illamasqua polishes and I found that to be true.  The tips of my nails started to wear quicker than with Creator, but it still lasted a good 6 or 7 days (with a base coat).

Application:  The formula is thin but not watery.  It doesn't run to the sides of your nails.  I found it easy to apply.
Wear Time:  The tips of my nails started wearing away on the 4th day.  It chipped on the 6th.  This was without a top coat (to preserve the rubber finish).
Finish:  The nails don't feel any different than with a regular polish.  They do look different.  The finish is semi matte.

I really like this nail polish.  The color is gorgeous.  I do wish the "rubber" finish was more pronounced.  It doesn't look that much different than regular shiny polishes.  The effect is most noticeable in daylight.

P.S. Sorry for posting so much Illamasqua lately!  I picked up a lot of their products during a sale this month.

Have you tried nail polishes with different finishes?  What's your favorite?  I would like to try a matte polish just to see what it's like.

  1. There could never be too many posts on Illamasqua! This polish looks really interesting; I wonder if a glossy top coat ruins the finish?

  3. Not sure how I feel about the finish but the color is nice. I don't have a lot of Illamasqua products so I do enjoy finding out more about them :). Thanks for the awesome review!

  6. This is seriously such a gorgeous shade, and completely different from any of the polishes I've got. I keep meaning to try khaki, and I think you've just convinced me to go for it, going to have a look for this in town tomorrow! It kind of makes me think of Christmas trees, haha.
