Try It Out Thursday: Colorful Eyeshadow

I try to experiment with colors once in a while or when I go out at night, but the truth is I'm loyal to neutrals.  I will wear the same look over and over and all I do is alternate between shades of brown, gold, and lilac.  Recently, I've bought some more colorful eye shadows in order to add some color to my makeup.  Here are a few ways I like to wear color on my eyes:
1.  Eye shadow and Matching Eyeliner:  I wore blue and black eye shadows with a coordinating eyeliner on my waterline.  Matching my liner to my eye shadow really made my eyes pop and tied the look together.  For me, this is a night look (dinners, birthdays, parties, etc.)
2.  Color on the Lower Lash Line:  I think this is my favorite way to add color to my makeup.  It looks very pretty and wearable.  The purple shadow is MUFE #92.
3.  Pop of Color on the Inner Corner:  I've worn this a lot during the daytime.  It's the subtlest way to add any color to your look.  The orange eye shadow is MAC's Rule.
4.  Colored Smoky Eye:  Instead of using mostly neutrals or black shades, a colored smoky eye is an easy way to incorporate color.  It keeps the look dramatic but not overly dark.  This was a nighttime look as well.

I also like to do a neutral eye and use a colorful eye shadow just on the center of my lid.  When I was younger I used to experiment with bright colors more often.  For some reason as I've gotten older I seldom leave my neutrals comfort zone. Using colors is so fun so I've been trying to incorporate them more lately. :)

What's your favorite way to wear colorful eye shadow?

  5. I love all of these looks! I only do colourful smokey eyes. I'm so afraid of colour eyeshadow because I never know what blush and lipstick to pair with them.

    1. Yeah, that's tricky. I usually play it safe and use a nude blush or lipstick. xx

  6. Such great looks but I especially love #2. The most colourful I've gone with my eyeshadow is MAC's Club, but that cobalt blue looks amazing xx

  7. Neutrals are my safe haven, but makeup to me is no fun without bright colors! Usually I wear brights like 1, 2, and 4, but I'd like to try 3 as well! Thanks for the idea :)

  10. Wow, you did a great job with all of these! I especially like #1 and #4- the blue liner and smokey green eye both look so striking! I like to wear bright shadows on the outer corner of my lid (with a neutral blended in the crease) or as a soft liner underneath the eye :)

  14. I'll do a coloured liner for a bit of colour but I absolutely love the idea of the coloured smoky eye - I'm seeing that look in all the glossy mags now so it's def on trend! It would be a purple smoky eye for me :)

  15. Anything goes for me to wear colours. I sure love my neutrals but my colourful shades get a lot of love too. Bold eyeliner is the easiest (and fastest) way to incorporate colour on a daily routine. I did a tutorial in October on how to use eyeshadow as liner, just in case any of your readers is interested in ^^
Love the green shade you use for the smokey eye, it really makes your eyes stand out a lot.
I hope to see more colourful looks from you darling! xx
