Today's Try It Out Thursday was very fun to do! I had never tried ombre lips before. If you've seen them around (they're a big trend now) you have noticed that they consist of a gradient of colors on the lips. There's so many color options to try! I would have liked to do more but I didn't want to make this post super long. Also, I wanted to feature MAC's Mixing Medium first but I'm still waiting for some glitters and eye shadows to arrive in the mail. Here are the four looks and the products I used:
L'Oreal Lipstick in Fairest Nude (left) and Wet 'n' Wild Lipstick in 905D
This was my favorite variation! So wearable and easy to do. It consists of nude lips (can be nuded out with foundation as well, I used a nude lipstick) with a pop of color just on the center.
MAC Lipstick in Impassioned (left), Revlon Lip Butter in Sweet Tart (middle) and Strawberry Shortcake (right)
This is also a really wearable one. The effect is more apparent in person. It's a gradient of dark to light colors of the same shade.
Revlon Lip Butter in Tutti Frutti (left) and MAC Lipstick in Impassioned (right)
This one looked gorgeous in person and was a ton of fun! It consists of any lip color with a complementary in the middle.
Revlon Lipstick in Wine Not (left), NARS Lipstick in Mascate (middle), and Revlon Lipstick in True Red (right)
This is the most dramatic. It definitely needed a lip liner (which I didn't use). Just use a dark vampy color on the corners of your lips and brighter reds in the center.
- This is an extremely fun trend! It's also good for using up your lipsticks if you have a large collection.
- I used what I had on hand, but I really don't suggest mixing finishes (like on the last look where I used two mattes with a Lip Butter) because they don't blend together as well.
- Have a lip brush and some lip liners on hand when trying out darker colors.
- This reminded me of how much I love MAC's Impassioned!
Hopefully these posts inspire you to try new things with your makeup! My previous post on this series was on red gel liner. Read it here. Have a great weekend!
