Best of 2012: Makeup

Hi, loves! I hope you had a wonderful New Year's! I wish you all the best for 2013. Today I'm posting about my top products from 2012. I didn't cover every single makeup category because: that would have been the longest post ever and not every category had a stand-out product for me. This post is quite picture-heavy so I've included a cut. Click "read more" to see the full post. Also, I reached 500 GFC readers yesterday!!! It was an exciting surprise. I have a big giveaway planned to thank you all. :)

Eye Products
Eye Primer: My favorite eye primer this year is the Too Faced Shadow Insurance. My old favorite was the Urban Decay Primer Potion. If you're an UDPP user this does take some getting used to since it's oilier/more liquid. It's amazing though and I found I use less product with this.

Eyeshadow Duo: The bareMinerals The Vision was my favorite eyeshadow duo for 2012. The colors look so beautiful together and the formula is impressive! I have a review for  The Vision duo by bareMinerals here.

Eyeshadow Brand: I couldn't pick just 1 so I had to go with the 3 brands that have impressed me the most in terms of eyeshadows this year. Those are MAC, Wet'n'Wild, and Make Up For Ever.

Eyeshadow Palette: The Urban Decay Naked Palette has to be my favorite for 2012. It's versatile and the eyeshadows are high quality.

Gel Liner: My absolute favorite is the Bobbi Brown Long Wear Gel Liner in Black Ink. It's creamy and lasts forever on the eyes. The best thing about it is that it doesn't dry out quickly. There are many great gel liners out there, but I've had others crack and dry which is wasteful especially if you don't use it that often and have to throw out an almost-full pot.

Mascara: I've tried many lovely and not-so-lovely mascaras this year. The one that stood out the most was the Tarina Tarantino Fleur de Lash Faceted Mascara. It's a delight to use. I've had it for longer than other mascaras and the formula hasn't dried out or turned clumpy.  Plus, I love the packaging.

Nude Liner: I have been wearing MAC's Chromagraphic Pencil in nc15/nw20 non-stop. It's perfect for making your eyes look more awake when worn in the waterline.
Lip Products
Red Lip:  This was a hard one. My favorite red lip color is NARS's Mascate but I had to pick Dragon Girl as the best for 2012 because I've used it so much! Just look at the tip! It's an amazing lipstick.

Pink Lip:  My favorite pink lipstick for 2012 has to be MAC's Angel.

Nude Lip:  MAC's Velvet Teddy is such an amazing color. It's as close to my natural lip color as I have gotten. It has a matte finish, it's creamy, and it goes with any look.

Vampy Lip:  The Kat Von D Rosary Lipstick was my favorite vampy color for 2012. I wore it so much! Sometimes 2 days in a row. The color is just beautiful!

Liquid Lipstick:  I fell in love with Guerlain's Rouge G L'Extrait lip formula this year. The color I have is Avarice and you can find a review for it here.

Lip Balm:  My lip savior is L'Occitane's Pure Shea Butter. Nothing conditions my lips as well as this.
Face Products
Blush: Hard to choose since I adore blush and there are many great ones out there. My favorite blush range is the Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge, the color shown here is Pale Pink. My favorite blush color for 2012 has to be the Illamasqua Powder Blush in Lover.

Powder:  My favorite pressed powder for the last two years has been the MAC Studio Finish Powder. It's finely milled and so pigmented. I can wear this alone and no foundation and feel fine. I wear the color C4.

Foundation:  There were 3 foundations that I absolutely loved in 2012 and those were MAC Pro Longwear, Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua, and NARS Sheer Glow. My favorite has to be NARS Sheer Glow because it has no SPF and photographs beautifully.

Concealer:  My favorite concealer for all of 2012 was Revlon's Photo Ready Concealer. However, Sandra sent me Collection 2000's Lasting Perfection Concealer in our swap and it has become my new favorite. I thought I'd mention both since the Collection concealer was a recent acquisition.

Bronzer:  For years my favorite bronzer had been the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer (which smells delicious by the way). This month I recieved the Bourjois Chocolate Bronzer from Sandra and I have to say I prefer it to the Too Faced one! I still love the Chocolate Soleil, it's an amazing bronzer.  However, the Bourjois bronzer is so pigmented that you just need the smallest amount. I can see it lasting me years which is great because I can't get it easily.

Miscellaneous
Nail Polish: The nail varnishes that impressed me the most during 2012 were Illamasqua's. The one pictured here is Creator.

Pencil Eyeliner:  This was meant to go in "Eye Products" but I forgot to include it and added it at the end. The Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eyeliners have been my favorites for years (you can tell, look how small it is!) There are many creamy and pigmented eyeliners out there but the 24/7's are the only ones that do not smudge or transfer on my waterline.

Brushes: Without a doubt the best brushes for 2012 were the Real Techniques brushes. They are affordable and high quality. My favorites are the eye shader brush, the buffing brush, the powder brush, and the stippling brush.

    1. Thank you, Lau! You too.
I know! I would love love love to post makeup looks and tutorials more often. They are my favorite type of posts to prepare. The most fun I think. I'd love to do them more often but it's so difficult because I take all my pictures with my phone. So while I'm doing a look I have to stop, face the window, hold up a mirror behind my phone, take the picture, keep going, repeat. LOL. But *fingers crossed* hopefully I will get a camera this year so I can have a better set up and post more makeup looks! xxx
