Review: NARS Casablanca Lipstick

Hi, beauties! Happy Friday! Today I want to share with you the lovely NARS Casablanca Lipstick. I post about lipsticks very often but they're my favorite makeup product. This is a really unique lip color. It's quite warm toned so it might not suit cooler skin tones as much. I wore Casablanca in a FOTD post quite recently. You can see it here.

Pigmentation
Casablanca is not completely opaque (see sheer and build up swatches). It's pigmented but keep in mind that the color will look different on everyone. Your natural lip color will affect the way the color looks on you.

Color
I still recommend getting Casablanca, even if you own a lot of orange/peach lipsticks. The color is a brick/burnt orange which is uncommon. Based on online lip swatches I expected this to be a peach, how ever it looks like a deep orange on me. Like I said, it depends on your natural lip color.

Formula
It's a balm-like formula. A little thin and very comfortable to wear. It doesn't accentuate my lip imperfections but it doesn't hide them either.

Longevity
It lasts well on the lips considering it has a shiny finish. Sheer and balm-y lipsticks tend to fade quicker.

Dupes
I have similar lipsticks but none that I consider dupes. Bobbi Brown's Soft Coral is peachier. Sleek's Peaches & Cream is opaque, more pastel, and peachier. Revlon's Tutti Frutti Lip Butter is the most similar but Tutti Frutti is a vibrant orange, while Casablanca is muted.
Bottom line: It's a good, solid lipstick. I've had Casablanca for some time and I can't find a negative thing to say about it. I think the reason I love it so much is that the color is very flattering on me. It's warm without being in-your-face orange.

  7. This is quite pretty on your lips! Its nice that it appears as though it can be built up to a more vibrant shade. I sort of hate orange lipsticks on me but this seems like a nice subtle orange lipstick.

  10. It really suits you, I don't think it would look half as lovely on my pale skin! I like the idea of the Sleek Peaches & Cream lipstick though!

  11. I like that it's not an in-your-face orange! I have Tutti Frutti and I always have to blot it like crazy to avoid looking like a clown, haha. Thanks for the review! :)

  13. I love coral orangey lipsticks and i was such a big fan of the Revlon Tutti Fruity during the summer! NARS lipsticks are always wonderful and faultless in my opinion and i always want to add more colours into my make-up collection although they are quite expensive but great quality! I own the shade 'Barbarella' and i adore its formulation and the way it hydrates my lips too! Thanks for the swatch, this shade looks so pretty on your skin-tone <3
