MAC Candy Yum Yum Lipstick Review

MAC Candy Yum Yum Lipstick ($15)

This lipstick was a complete impulse buy back in January. I was at the MAC store looking for Dark Side to gift to a friend for her birthday then I saw the tester for Candy Yum Yum. I know this lipstick is very popular and hyped. It was originally released with the 2011 Quite Cute collection then it was brought back by voters during the By Request collection. Finally, it was recently made part of the permanent collection due to popular demand. I had never been interested in Candy Yum Yum until I saw it at the store that day. It's one of those neon color that's best appreciated in person. Anyways, I ended up purchasing it without much thought. Here's a review:

Pigmentation

Opaque in one coat. The color is so intense that it sometimes gathers a bit on my lip lines (see lip swatch). It's only noticeable from up close though (really up close, like invading-my-personal-space close).

Color

I've seen Candy Yum Yum look different in pictures across many blogs. It's such a bright, neon magenta that it was definitely hard for me to capture. It ended up looking a bit different in almost every picture. It's definitely cool toned so it does make my teeth look a bit yellow.

Formula

Candy Yum Yum goes on smoothly and evenly. My lips don't feel dry while wearing it, but after having it on all night I feel like I need some lip balm. It's very long wearing and leaves a persistent stain. 

Overall

I really love Candy Yum Yum! The color is not for everyone, but I think you should see it in person first and then decide whether it's something you would wear or not. I didn't own any neon lipsticks before this one and I wasn't interested in Candy Yum Yum until I fell in love with it at the store.
