Hi, lovelies! Today I'll be reviewing the popular Benefit High Beam Liquid Highlighter. I bought High Beam years ago. I hated it in the beginning and only started to like it recently. I don't have much to say about it though. It does exactly what it's supposed to: it highlights and brings light to the face. I use it on my cheekbones, my cupid's bow, and on the bridge of my nose. The effect it gives is truly gorgeous! It has a pearlessence that is very difficult to capture in pictures but looks amazing in real life. It looks glowy and natural because it's liquid.
The reasons I disliked it initially were: 1. I wasn't applying it effectively and 2. I didn't like the color. I used to blend it out too much and get frustrated because it seemed to disappear. I found that I like it much better if I just tap it with my fingers. Also, it's very white/champagne which doesn't look as natural on my warm medium skintone. I think Sun Beam or Moon Beam would look best with my yellow undertones.
Sorry for the closeup of my worn-out smoky eye! Anyways, High Beam is a wonderful high quality highlighter. It's a product that I have learned to love. I still prefer a warmer highlighter, something more golden or beige which is why I'll use up High Beam but I won't repurchase it. Also, the one I have is the travel size which was cheaper than the full size High Beam. I bought it at Sephora but I'm not sure if they still carry this "to-go" version.

It looks good on you
ReplyDeleteOh, so cool! I love it!

Aww, that's too bad :(
DeleteI too didn't like High Beam but I'm starting to like it again and I had been applying it wrong too! Looks fab on you x

I've never tried a liquid highlighter, think I'll get the benefit ladies to put this on me as I would'nt want it looking un natural! thanks for an honest review :) xx
ReplyDeleteHigh beam is beautiful! I've never seen the smaller version in the tube- so much easier than the nail polish -like bottle!
ReplyDeleteI prefer powder highlighters : / I didn't like either the moon beam or high beam, too "greasy" for me. Looks lovely on you, though. Maybe moon beam will look even better! ^^ xx
ReplyDeleteYeah, it can be the type of product that can easily cross over to being "too much' since it's liquid AND super shimmery xx
DeleteThis looks lovely on you Coco!! Highbeam doesn't suit my skin but they're Watts Up is perfect for me :)

I forgot about Watts Up. It must be lovely xx
DeleteI like how it looks on you! You might like Sun Beam more though, it's very yellow and warm and really does remind me of liquid sunshine.
ReplyDeleteLooks gorgeous!X

It's my birthday soon and I was thinking about asking for a benefit highlighter, as I have paler skin I thought this would probably be best for me. It looks really pigmented and that really attracts me to it. I've heard that both topshop and elf do a good dupe though! x
ReplyDeletehttp://aquietjournal.blogspot.co.uk/
Yeah, I definitely think it suits pale skintones better xxx
DeleteIt looks like it has a really pretty sheen to it! I thought the packaging was different though, or is that the old packaging?
ReplyDeletea-hint-of-glitter.blogspot.co.uk
This little doe-foot tube is a travel version called High Beam To Go that they used to sell at Sephora x
DeleteI like it! Looks pretty on you, a bit too much sheen for me as I like more of a matte look. Nice post!
ReplyDeleteI finally picked up highbeam and I love it! I agree that it shears out easily.
ReplyDeleteI love highbeam, it is so good at illuminating cheekbones and eyebrows. I have never seen this size, it looks much better than the normal one they sell which is harder to carry around x
ReplyDeletehttp://whatisinherwardrobe.blogspot.co.uk
Yeah, it's a shame they don's sell this To Go packaging anymore. It seems easier to apply too xx
DeleteI absolutely love High Beam. I just wish it wasn't so expensive! xx
ReplyDeleteI had no idea that the packaging had changed! Or maybe it's different where you live? love high beam, just wish I could find a cheaper alternative :-)

I really like Benefit products. My first one was Benetint! I have this- but haven't tried it yet. Now I can't wait! Thanks.
ReplyDelete❤
I love this on my fair skin. x
ReplyDeleteIt is a great highlight for my fair skin! Although, I have been love the one from the Fergie collection lately, but it is a powder, not a liquid.
ReplyDeleteNicole at proudproductjunkie.blogspot.com
I've yet to see Fergie products on my local drugstores. :( I don't think W'n'W limited edition products even come to my country x
DeleteI have a dupe of this product (Technic's HighLights) and I'm totally in love with it! It really gives your face a wonderful glow.
ReplyDeleteOh, I've seen Technic HighLights on blogs before. It looks so pretty! I wish I could get my hands on it x
DeleteIt looks amazing on
ReplyDeleteI understand what you mean about the warm tones but it still looks really pretty on your skin! :-)

I got a sample of this and it is just an ok product, I think there are better liquid highlighters out there to be honest!
ReplyDeleteI love liquid highlighters so I'd love to hear your favorites x
DeleteThe carry version is cute and useful! I love High Beam, though I do find the liquid a bit tricky at times. Still, it's very glowy and I like that there's no detectable shimmer particles in it.
ReplyDeleteSuper cute! totally loving this
ReplyDeleteI have High Beam, and I've never been overly impressed with it. I think it's because I prefer a more subtle highlight and this is really noticeable on my skin tone. Powder highlights suit me a lot more, but this is gorgeous for special nights out and such! xx

I've noticed that I use it most during the daytime because it's so shimmery. It truly can be too much xx
Deletethat looks absolutely gorgeous on your skin!

ReplyDeleteI really like MoonBeam! I dk, will have to pick up a sample at some point :) The bottle packaging is fab though! *sigh*
ReplyDeleteI love how it looks in the close up, so pretty! :)
ReplyDeleteI have Sunbeam and I'm really in love with that.

I have never seen this with the doe foot applicator! I wish mine had it instead of the nail-polish-esque bottle!
ReplyDeleteIt looks lovely on you!

I love this product but sometimes I find it so hard to use. x
ReplyDeleteA Scholar Life
I've never tried High Beam before, I've always been tempted but I tend not to be a fan of liquid products. Lovely review!
