Hi, loves! I've finally had time to edit a post for the Try It Out Thursday series. I love doing these posts and I have a long queue of ideas for the series. However, they take a lot of time to put together because they usually include several looks in one post. Today I have a recreation of the popular Illamasqua Speckled Eyeliner look. This look is part of Illamasqua's new collection: I'mperfection. They're selling a Speckled Eyeliner bundle on their website that includes both a black and a white liquid liner.
I adore Illamasqua for their creativity and makeup artistry. I'm not a makeup artist but I decided to recreate this look just for fun. It's quite easy to do since it's supposed to be messy. Two things I wish I had done differently though: Used a different liquid liner. I used the Bourjois Liner Pinceau which has a really fine tip that gave me jagged specks instead of round ones. Used a different lipstick. I wore this with MAC's Velvet Teddy. I think a bold lip color would have looked better since the eyes are very neutral.
I actually found speckled eyeliner to be surprisingly wearable. Probably because I have hooded lids and most of the speckles remained hidden unless I looked downwards. I did get "looks like a spider" and "peacock makeup" comments (LOL). They were all in good fun though. Let me know if this is something you would try. Also, I reached 1000 GFC readers yesterday!! Thanks for taking the time to read or follow my blog!

DeleteFirst of all... Congratulations once again Coco!!! You deserve so many more readers, I'm absolutely in love with you blog, and you, my darling are drop dead gorgeous and anything you post I'll always be excited to read. I don't know about the rest, but I feel you're part of a new generation of beauty bloggers that are so original and therefore so refreshing that it's quite hard to resit to the charm ^^
ReplyDeleteNow about the look, OMG!!! This looks like something I'd do for one of my anime makeups, it's really amazing. I know what you mean about hooded eyes, though, most of the makeup I wear doesn't show up unless I look down, which is probably why I tend to go over board over the crease with my colours LOL
Love the "Try it out Thursday" posts, keep'em coming! xx
Lau, you're so always so supportive! People like you make the blogging community a really inspiring one. Your comments always make me smile (de oreja a oreja). Your comment means a lot to me, especially since you're very knowledgeable on makeup techniques and beauty products so those are really high praises.
DeleteI also go really overboard on the crease. Sometimes I think I bring the crease colors too high up in an effort to get them noticed. And the funny thing is that I always try to lift up my eyebrows when I take closeup shots for my blog so people can actually see what's on the lid. My eyes fold even more in person. At first it was really difficult to find makeup to suit my eye shape, but I think I've gotten much better now :)
<3
I love this look! At first I thought you were wearing artistic falsies. The speckled eyeliner look actually enhances your eye color like a contrasting spotlight which was very flattering. I may have to try a VERY TONED DOWN version of this for the summer on weekends.
ReplyDeleteomg, gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteOkay, WOW. Seriously Coco, this looks amazing! I haven't heard of or tried speckled eye liner (I know, so out of the loop :D) but I think I NEED to! I'm sure it looks 800000x better on you than it would on me, but I'll still attempt! :)

ReplyDeleteI wouldn't change a thing! I love how the main focus is the eyes and somehow I like the jagged specks more. Gives some awesome dimension!
