Hello, lovelies! Today I'm posting about a few MUA lipsticks that Sandra sent me during our swap back in December. She did send me an additional color but sadly that one arrived broken and I haven't been able to twist up the bullet. I found these lipsticks to be a bit of a mixed bag (I loved two of them and the other two I just found okay). These are only £1, so they're still really impressive for the price.
Shade 2: A very beautiful mid-tone purple. This is the best of the bunch. It applies smoothly, feels comfortable on the lips, is very pigmented, and doesn't accentuate dryness.
Shade 14: A peachy coral. This is my favorite of the four. The formula is very similar to Shade 2's. The color is gorgeous!
Shade 12: A glittery pink. I don't have anything negative to say about this one quality-wise, but I don't tend to wear glitter on my lips. Plus, it has a really strong and unpleasant scent.
Shade 4: A baby pink. This one is really sheer. It took me 4-5 layers for the swatches to show. It's very similar to Maybelline's Baby Lips in Pink Punch except it's not as hydrating.
Overall: The MUA Lipsticks are impressive. I wish I had access to $1 lipsticks of this quality. I've gotten a lot of use out of Shade 2 and 14. Great budget alternatives. I'd love to try some of their red shades. Let me know what your favorite MUA Lipstick shades are!
P.S. I wrote this post before the recent MUA controversy. I know some people said they did not want to support the brand anymore. Let me know what you think.

They look really impressive, especially for what they're priced! Unfortunately I don't have access to MUA either, which is a shade. 14 looks absolutely lovely, as wel as 12!

Their lipsticks are worth the pound! I love shade 2 and 4. They look the best on me :)
ReplyDeleteThink you might like their reds too!

I've only ever bought the Heaven and Earth palette from them because of the hype it received, but after their recent portrayal of the brand through their Facebook I don't think I could support the brand any more. Their products are very affordable though!

I love and own them all :) I just think £1 is amazing... the kinda lipstick to pop in your bag on a night out, and not be devastated about if you lose it :) xx
ReplyDeleteDefinitely, I like that point of view xx
Deletewhat is this controversy? I am intrigued.
ReplyDeleteIt happened mostly on Twitter and on their Facebook page but you can see a glimpse here:

ReplyDeleteI want to start experimenting with colours other thank pinks and nudes so and going to pick up some of these because of the price if I deiced I can't wear coral it won't matter. x
ReplyDeletewhatsonyourtulips.blogspot.co.uk
Great for experimenting because of their affordability, you're right xxx

Shade 2 looks great. About controversy... Let's be honest, it's all between bloggers, normal consument won't notice that tbh. It was unprofessional behaviour, not the first time actually, but I will still buy from the brand. Not everyone can afford Naked 2 palette from UD costing £36 instead of MUA Undressed 2 for £4...

Yeah, most of the time the general public doesn't even find out about makeup brand's controversy like Urban Decay, Lime Crime, MAC, etc. A lot of brands have had controversy at one point or the other xx
DeleteShade 14 is gorgeous! I can't wait to try MUA products, they seem really nice for the price : ) xx
ReplyDeleteI have a MUA post in draft too and was unsure whether to post it! It was rather stupid and unprofessional what Mr MUA posted but not sure I will stop buying the products x
ReplyDeleteI love how shade 14 looks on you! I love inexpensive makeup with decent quality. I'm unaware of the mua controversy though, will look up on that being the curious and/or nosy person I am :P
ReplyDeleteYou can see a bit of it here:

I have shade 12 and I hate it.. I didn't know it has a glitter to it and those type of lipsticks just don't work with me but I love all my other MUA lipsticks! xx

I've always wanted to try MUA ... anything, haha! Shade 2 looks so pretty and Shade 12 looks like it'd just be fun to stare at, not so fun to use! Although I didn't notice the glitter until I read through the review! Seriously wish we had access to some of these UK products xx

Ooh Shade 4 is so, so pretty! I love that Baby Lips, so I'm sure I'd like this color, too. And I think Shade 12 looks gorgeous, it's a shame it doesn't smell nice! I wish we had MUA things in the US because I really, really love the way the products I've tried from them perform!

Shade 2 is one of my all-time favourite lipsticks :)
ReplyDeletei really want to try more MUA lipstick shades, but in-store they're always so jumbled up, so i love that you've swatched these so I have an idea of the shades!

I own loads of MUA lipsticks and I love them. They are really good for the price, the main brand I use for lip products xx
ReplyDeletethesecretblogger1830.blogspot.co.uk
Lovely shades!
ReplyDeleteMUA lipsticks are great, especially for the tiny little price infact I own all 16! I'm over the MUA controversy! What they did, and how they deal with complaining customers is pathetic, childish and damn right unprofessional but I buy their products to use not to support the brand!
ReplyDeleteIt's incredible that you can have 16 lipsticks for the price of one MAC lipstick xx
DeleteShade 2 is my favourite from the whole range. Although they do nice reds too.
ReplyDeleteXx
I have a few & think they are a bit sheer
ReplyDeleteShade 4 looks laaaavly xx
ReplyDeletelove the shade 12 and 14.. :D
ReplyDeletebeautyfoodlife.blogspot.com
I have some of these lipsticks! You can go wrong with it being a pound! Which does not break the bank at all.
ReplyDeleteI have read about the controversy but tbh I don't think it would effect consumers in general. If they spot it in the shop, swatch it, like it then they'll buy it! xo
Shade 14 is so pretty & looks lovely on you1 I'm off to read about the controversy now, I'm really out of the blogging loop I think!
