Review: Sleek Pout Paint in Port

I received this lovely Sleek Pout Paint from Latasha during our beauty swap. I wish I could compare its formula to that of a Lip Tar from OCC but I don't own any Lip Tars. There are many blog posts on that topic already though. All you have to do is search for Lip Tar vs. Pout Paint. What I gathered is that the Lip Tars are a bit drier because their finish isn't as shiny. This makes them last longer on the lips but also a bit more unforgiving.  Also, their ingredients are different (Lip Tars are vegan).
Port was really comfortable to wear. It wasn't drying at all. It lasted well on the lips, but I didn't find that it outwore any of my long-wearing lipsticks. I actually really like the control that these tar/paint products give you in terms of application. I'm interested in mixing colors to create unique shades tailored to my preferences so I've already made a list of colors I want to purchase next. I do want to try a Lip Tar first to see if I like them better. Overall, I really liked Port and I think it was a good formula. Although I did blot it afterwards because it was a bit shiny for my liking.

Are you interested in this type of products or is using a lip brush too much of a hassle? If you've tried both which one do you prefer, Lip Tars or Pout Paints?

  6. This is a stunning colour on you, wowzers! I do like the ones I have but also want to try the OCC Lip tars. I actually like the shininess with these, too, but I can get why some people don't. xx

    1. Haha, they're not sticky at all I think. I guess they would feel like an opaque lip gloss. Their eyeshadow palettes are what I'm most interested in!

  33. Wow, this shade is gorgeous! And thanks for the review- I've been curious about these. The formula seems to be a great compromise between long wear and comfort. I have a couple of Lip Tars and really like them, but the ultra-pigmentation and slightly drying formula can be, like you said, pretty high maintenance!
