Fresh, Heat-Proof Summer Makeup

summer makeup
Hi, lovelies! I don't know about you, but where I live the weather has gotten incredibly hot (hotter than usual). I wanted to write a few posts centered around summer makeup. Today I'll be showcasing my fresh, barely there makeup. This look proved to be quite heat-proof, as in it didn't budge easily, but not really waterproof. It's a very natural look. The intention is to look polished but not feel heavy or uncomfortable as if you have too much makeup on. In the future I'll be writing about waterproof makeup and a full face of makeup (with more coverage and dramatic eyes) meant to withstand the heat. Enjoy!

FACE: I have two quite different options for base. Both are very light in coverage and in feel, that way you'll still feel comfortable even if the temperature starts to rise. They don't get patchy either, both fade in a forgiving way. The first is the L'Oreal Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream (review here). It has a light coverage and matte finish which is perfect for summer because it doesn't transfer easily. My other fresh summer option is the opposite in terms of finish and it's the BECCA Luminous Skin Colour. The coverage is sheer and it has a glowing finish. I normally wouldn't recommend something that's more on the dewy side for summer (because it doesn't last as long) but the BECCA feels so comfortable on the skin. It's also quite moisturizing (really good for dry skin). I like to pair light foundations with fuller coverage concealers. The Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer is has good coverage and is also quite long lasting. For powder I chose a really finely milled one (Paul & Joe Pressed Face Powder). It's basically a translucent setting powder (like the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder or the Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder). I love it because it combats shine yet looks and feels lightweight.
CHEEKS: Powders and creams work well during the summer but I decided to go for my longest lasting cheek products and those are cheek stains (or gel formulas). My favorite is the Lovely ME:EX Milky Tint from The Face Shop (see review). The lasting power is amazing! I also suggest the Etude House Water Color Blushes (not shown, reviewed recently) or the BECCA Beach Tints.
EYES: My favorite eye products that don't budge or crease are the Milani Shadow Eyez Eyeshadow Sticks (review) and the MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pots. Milani recently released more colors for their Shadow Eyez range (including mattes!) but sadly they're limited edition. I've already started picking up a few :). In terms of mascara I have to admit that I don't own any waterproof mascaras because I find them so difficult to remove. Plus I don't really need a waterproof one on a daily basis. For summer a suggest a mascara with a drier formula because they aren't prone to smudging. I chose my trusty Tarina Tarantino Fleur de Lash Faceted.
LIPS: Coincidentally, the two lip colors I chose are bright pinks. The first one is the Essence Stay Matte Lip Cream (in Sweet Berry) which is really long lasting and has a gorgeous matte finish. The second one is the Maybelline Color Sensationals Vivids in Vivid Rose. I didn't wear it to it's full potential in the picture (more like a stain) but it's a gorgeous color for summer. The stain it leaves behind lasts a long time so you don't have to worry about reapplying. The third option is for those who don't want to fuss with lip colors at all and it's the Fresh Rose Sugar Lip Treatment. It feels so nice on the lips and has SPF too.

WHAT I'M WEARING: L'Oreal Magic BB Cream in Medium, Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in Light, BECCA Beach Tint in Guava, Paul & Joe Pressed Powder in Medium, Milani Shadow Eyez in Champagne Toast, Tarina Tarantino Fleur de Lash Faceted, Maybelline Color Sensationals Vivids Lipstick in Vivid Rose.

Let me know how you like to wear your makeup during the hotter months. Or what products you often reach for. Have a lovely weekend!

    1. I don't really love them too much because I think they're a bit overprized for what they are but I featured them because they worked for the purpose of the post. I'll review them in full later xx

  7. I think I say this EVERY time but you look stunning Coco!! And I'm all for posts like this, it was so so helpful! Even though the temperature dropped all of a sudden today it has normally been really hot and humid so I need to stock up on good sweat proof/heatproof makeup! And another Paul & Joe beauty? How you tempt me so... :)

  8. I love Vivid Rose on you - the first thing I noticed was that gorgeous lip colour. I am so glad I went back for it after skipping it when I bought my first batch of Vivids. Unfortunately the Milani Shadow Eyez aren't available where I live - otherwise I'd definitely be interested in checking them out. The BECCA Beach Tints look so appealing but the price tag doesn't :p

I tend to gravitate towards powders for the hotter months because anything else just slips off my face : /

  29. I haven't tried the Essence lip color. Sounds intriguing. I'm usually not a fan of matte lip colors, but they are growing on me.
