Hello, beauties! I want to start off by apologizing for not posting part two of the White Eyes TIOT yesterday. I received a bit of discouraging news recently and, honestly, I didn't feel up to blogging, posting, or editing pictures at all. The content for that post is sitting in a folder in my computer and the post is waiting to be written. I'll get around to writing it when I feel a bit cheerier. For now I'll continue with my scheduled posts. On a happier note, today I'll be reviewing a MAC lipstick which I won in a giveaway (yay!) from Amanda over at Ms. American Pie. She's one of those girls that I can totally see myself being friends with in real life (isn't that totally cheesy!) I also forgot to mention that she interviewed me on her blog back in April (click here to see). She also recently interviewed Ashii, one of my favorite bloggers, so click here to go have a look. Without further ado, here are my thoughts on MAC's Shy Girl...
Given than it has a Cremesheen finish, Shy Girl is sheer and will look slightly different on everyone. It's a peachy nude but leans towards the pink side since my lips are quite pigmented naturally.
MAC Cremesheen lipsticks have a thin, balmy texture which means that, although they aren't drying, they don't disguise dryness. If anything they kinda accentuate it. It's a weird thing to explain. If your lips are in good condition you'll be fine. If they're a bit dry or chapped the pigment will "gather" and lip lines will get accentuated. It's not exclusive to MAC though, it's the nature of the formula. I've experienced the same thing with other thin lipsticks like Paul & Joe Lipsticks and some NARS shades. They all feel really comfortable and hydrating on the lips but the formula isn't as forgiving as thicker lipsticks. Hope that made sense. :)
Shy Girl wears surprisingly well for such a sheer, balmy lip color. I get about 3 hours of wear which is fine since it's a light shade.
I love Shy Girl!! I've had my eye on this shade for ages and am so excited to finally own it. I really like the color on me. The slight peachyness keeps it from being a nude that washes me out. This is the lip color that is currently always in my bag. I definitely recommend it but keep in mind what I said about it not being too forgiving on dry lips. Other than that I have no complaints and Shy Girl has taken it's place alongside Teddy Girl as my favorite MAC lipsticks. Thank you, Amanda!!
