Halloween Makeup: Ice Princess

I meant to post several Halloween makeup looks during the month of October. For several reasons that hasn't gone according to plan (sadly). Today I have an easy (but time consuming) costume idea to show you. It can be adapted into many costumes: ice princess (queen), frozen girl, snow fairy, Frosty the Snowman, etc. etc. It's inexpensive and relies heavily on the makeup. All you need is glitter, white eyeshadow (cream or powder), and whichever craft supplies you can find.

The costume
You don't need to buy anything extra for this look. Any white dress or white clothing will do. I did create a hair piece (crown) specifically for this costume but I got all the materials from the craft and dollar store. It probably cost me under $10.
The crown
The base consists of floral wire covered with a hot glue gun. The glue is meant to add width, make the crown soft and comfortable, and also look like ice. I wrapped branches of glittery silver leaves around the floral wire (I found them in the Christmas section). I created the icicles with the glue gun on top of a sheet protector. Finally, I covered everything with white glitter and used a sponge to add white paint on top of the leaves (to simulate fallen snow).
The makeup
I started by using a face primer (Laura Mercier Oil Free Primer). Then I used a white cream eyeshadow pencil (Jordana Made To Last Eyeshadow Pencil in Eternal White) to paint the top half of my face. I blended it with my finger. To set the cream eyeshadow and intensify the color, I applied a matte white eyeshadow on top (Illamasqua Sex Eyeshadow). I used a white cream eyeshadow to cover my eyelashes (a white eyelash primer would work well too). The most challenging part was covering my brows (simply because it took forever). I used lash glue (DUO Eyelash Adhesive) to stick fake glass, glitter (Make Up For Ever Glitters in Multicolored White 3), and white rhinestones to my brows. I also glued two leaves from the crown's branches beside my eyes. I then set my makeup with finishing spray.
I do wish the pictures of the makeup look were better. I took them hours after I had applied it and in dim yellow lighting. Still, I'm really pleased with how it turned out and how well it lasted. A few things I learned about painting your face white though: The contrast will make your eyes look very red. And your teeth yellow. And your brown eyes look black (or as my friend put it "like demon eyes").

What makeup looks have you tried (will you try) this Halloween?

    1. I did contour using blue, it's just not visible in these pictures. I used Illamasqua "Intense" eyeshadow to do it. xx
