I used to be pretty good at nail art back in the day, but after attempting it a few days ago I discovered I lost any ability I had. So if you're like me and can't do nail art to save your life, why not go for the nail polish & glitter top coat route? It's fool proof, quick, and easy. Here are a few holiday inspired combinations I came up with.
01. The Uber Festive: Can't go wrong with red and green. This reminds me of Santa Claus or a Christmas tree. The red base is Phat Santa from China Glaze ($5) and the glitter coat is Party Hearty, also from China Glaze. They were part of their 2010 Holiday Collection but colors like these are common. China Glaze's holiday collections are always amazing. I reviewed both last year.
02. The Winter Wonderland: This is a more toned down holiday nail. It's very frosty and snowy. For the base I used Illamasqua Raindrops ($17), a white crackle polish on top (not shown), and China Glaze Snow Globe ($5) glitter top coat (also limited edition, sorry!) Snow Globe is well loved but it has sadly gotten very clumpy as of late.
03. The Party Girl: Gold on the nails always reminds me of New Year's for some reason. The metallic gold base is Because You're Worth It from L'Oreal ($5). To make gold polish a bit more youthful, add a multi-colored glitter top coat like Technic's Carnival (£2.50). Carnival is a dupe for Deborah Lippman's Happy Birthday and was given to me by the lovely Sandra from The Black Pearl blog.
I hope you enjoyed that! Let me know what nail polishes you like to wear during the holidays.
