Although I could suggest cliché gifts for men like cellphone covers, watches, wallets, and video games, I'm going to take a different approach. Since this is a beauty blog, why not compile a list of male approved cosmetics and toiletries? All of them cost less than $20 (most are even under $10) which make them great stocking stuffers. Or you can buy all of them, like me, and make a DIY men's care package. It's kinda like gifting socks. The older you get the more you appreciate getting those use-them-everyday-but-don't-like-to-buy-them-myself items as gifts.
01. CO Bigelow Mentha Vitamin Body Wash, $12: You can get CO Bigelow products at your local Bath & Body Works stores, online or at Amazon. Their products are quite nice and the Mentha range smells amazing! A must for mint lovers. The body wash gives a refreshing tingly feeling in the bath. It reminds me a lot of the peppermint Dr. Bronner's Liquid Soap (which I love) so it's a great alternative if you can't get a hold of Dr. Bronner's products easily.
02. Assorted Bar Soaps, $4 to $8: My boyfriend and I love crafted bar soaps. However, those can be hard to find (specially on a short notice) and sometimes pricey. From CO Bigelow, again, you can try the Mentha Exfoliating Soap ($7.50) or the Eucalyptus Spearmint Body Bar ($7.50) from Bath & Body Works. The Body Shop also makes nice bar soaps (which were recently on sale). If your man likes sweet scents, as opposed to strong minty ones, a good choice is the Chocomania Soap ($4). A personal favorite of mine is LUSH's Demon in the Dark which smells woody and earthy. The price in-store will vary depending on the size of the soap but you can get it online for $7.95. My boyfriend's favorites are Mentha and Demon in the Dark. I also recommend the handmade soaps from Metropolis Soap Co. which I reviewed previously.
03. Jack Black Double-Duty Face Moisturizer with SPF 20, $17: Sadly a lot of males ignore facial moisturizer. It's so beneficial to the skin, not only for those with dry/flaky skin, but moisturizing also helps regulate oily skin. The Jack Black Double-Duty Moisturizer is great because it's lightweight and also contains SPF. The price varies depending on which size you get. The 1.5 oz tube costs $17 while the 3.3 oz bottle retails for $27.
04. Bath & Body Works Ocean Pocketbac for Men, $1.75: Seems like a lame gift but you'd be surprised at the amount of men that ask to borrow my hand sanitizers. So why not get them one of their own? Men have to keep their hands clean too, yo. You can get the Ocean for Men Pocketbac from Bath & Body Works in case they don't want a "girly one" (eye roll). Pocketbacs are usually 5 for $5 so you can pick some up for yourself too!
Other products that could complement a men's care package are shaving creams, cologne, and underwear. :) Tell me, what are you getting your dad, male friends or boyfriend this holiday? Do you usually have to pick out the "manly" looking beauty products or do they use "girly" ones without any fuss?
