BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Rose Gold

becca shimmering skin perfector pressed rose gold review swatch nc30
Can we admire this beautiful compact for a minute? BECCA has outdone themselves. I saw the Rose Gold compact pop up in several blogs but, as beautiful as it was, I never thought I would purchase it for myself. First of all, it's a damn expensive highlighter. Secondly, it looked very metallic in swatches. I'm not much of a highlighter girl as it is but when I do use highlighter, I prefer subtler finishes like satins and pearls. However, I was offered to go on a little Sephora shopping spree as a birthday present so I said, why not?

I will not go into my usual, long in-depth reviews that are classified by formula, pigmentation, and longevity. There is just not much to say about Rose Gold. It's pretty and it works. The texture is really soft and nice to work with. I just think that nothing makes it stand out enough to justify it costing nearly $40. I want to point out that it looks really gold in the swatch, but when the light hits it it reflects pink so it's definitely rose gold

Bottom line: Good quality but I think it's overpriced. I feel like a high price tag is justified when the product is something you can't find from other brands. It's a great shade for medium-tan skin tones seeing as most highlighters are very white/light. It could also work on pale skin tones because it's pink/gold not just yellow. Some days I really love it but others I feel like it's too much. I suggest swatching it in person to see how the color pulls on you and if the shimmer is too much or just right for your tastes.

Let me know what your favorite highlighters are. I'm still playing around with several. It's the one makeup category where I haven't found a favorite yet. Happy Friday!

P.S. I'm planning a 3,000 reader giveaway where one of the prizes will be an Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush. Please vote in this poll to help me decide which blush to give away. I would really appreciate it! :)

  2. The packaging of this is gorgeous and i love everything that is rose gold :) Really pretty. I haven't tried Becca products yet because i haven't visited a store here in UK that sells it yet. I really want to try out one of their luminous foundations which has had quite a few reviews on :)

My current favourite highlighter is NARS albatross which is more of a gold toned highlight and great for everyday wear. Have a nice day! <3

  8. Very pretty highlight, but I agree, it would hurt my heart just a little bit to pay that much for it.

  11. I've been seeing this product pop up in many blogs for months now and have been lemming for it when I first read about it! Reading your blog post has definitely made me realize that maybe I should stop by Sephora and swatch it before I make my final decision!

At the moment, Dior Amber Diamond is my favorite highlighter.

    Great post! =)

  12. I really like the NYX Liquid Illuminator in "Gleam" and the MAC Cream Color Base in "Improper Copper". I think both have a kind of rose gold effect and make my skin look great in pictures.

  13. I think it would be too much for my light skin but could it be pulled off as an eyeshadow? It's really pretty. Yes, the price is too high for what it is. Thanks for the review!

  14. I got a little sample version of the liquid Shimmering Skin Perfector in a beauty box a few month ago and I absolutely love it. It's lasting me so long because you only need the tiniest amount. Maybe look into getting a sample of this one instead to see how you like it?

  16. Becca products are very overpriced IMO. Although I do want to try the shimmering skin perfecter, I have so many other high lighters I need to use first.

  18. It looks very pretty, but you're right about the price point. I wouldn't purchase it at that price!

  19. Pretty, but I'd never splurge on it! If I did buy it, I would buy it when it's on Hautelook and HEAVILY discounted!

    Great review!

    1. Haha, funny you should mention that. I recently had a terrible experience with Hautelook and a BECCA purchase. They sell and then ask for the stock from the manufacturer directly (BECCA) and apparently they oversell often and then have to cancel and refund orders. Ugh. A mess. Also, this might not be available on HL as it's limited edition xx
