Butter London Cream Blush in Honey Pie

butter london cream blush honey pie review swatch
Butter London is a brand best known for its nail polishes but they have started to slowly (but surely) release makeup items as well. Among their current offerings are colored mascaras, eyeliners, and cream blushes. Being a total fan of cream blushes, I was eager to try out a new formula. The fact that I had a 20% discount code at B-Glowing also helped. I picked up the color Honey Pie, a gorgeous nude pink.

The compact is basic and standard, Butter London's white logo against shiny black plastic. The inside of the cardboard box has a beautiful floral print. While I appreciate those kinds of details as they make the product feel more luxurious, it seems like a waste because the outer packaging is meant to be thrown away. So, what about the product itself?
Formula
The consistency is very creamy. Honey Pie feels thin and liquid-y (very similar to the feel of Illamasqua Cream Blushes). The pigmentation is nice and the product is easy to blend.
Finish
It does not set to a satin or matte finish like a lot of cream blushes. This can be a good or bad thing depending on your skin type. It's ideal for dry skin as it remains dewy and will never accentuate dryness. Not ideal for oily skin or humid weather because it can feel too slippery.
Longevity
Even though it's dewier than my most loved cream blush formulas (Stila, Bobbi Brown, Illamasqua), I still enjoy Butter London's formula very much. Except that it falls short on wear time. It starts fading after about 3 hours, which is abysmal for a cream formula.

Overall: Really nice formula and beautiful color. Less than impressive wear time. I do imagine it will wear better on dry skin types (mine is normal).

Let me know if you've tried any makeup items from Butter London. I actually have never tried any of their nail polishes. Ironic, because that's what they're famous for. Have a good day, lovelies!

  4. I can see why if it doesn't set that the wear time isn't great. I do have to say the color and pigmentation look fantastic though! Thanks for your review!

  9. This just went to the top of my wishlist! I love Butter London and I love cream blushes so what a win/win :) Love the color and shade-- it reminds me a little bit of one of boho chic by NYX.

  11. I give these brownie points for packaging, I think it is lovely! What a shame that bird print is inside the box, it would be nice to incorporate that onto the actual product itself somehow...not sure how they would do it though.

I think it looks like a beautiful blusher colour wise, it's a shame that it didn't last very long.

  14. I had no idea butter london was venturing beyond their polishes and lippies!!! This looks like an absolutely lovely natural blush though if the wear-time was poor than I can't imagine myself buying it… I can't promise I won't swatch it a ton in store though haha.

  15. I had no idea Butter London has makeup too! Guess I'm really used to seeing them as just a nail polish brand. I'm still against a lot of cream products for fear of them not staying put/being hard to work with/getting messy (I did warm up to a cream concealer and a cream highlighter though!) Maybe sometime in the future I'll be more open towards cream products, since I'm interested in some cream blushes.

  19. I would try this. I'm not sure how long it would last on me, but I like the idea of thin cream blush. Pretty color, too.
