Review: Pond's Luminous Finish BB+

I was sent Pond's Luminous BB+ for a sponsored blog post a few months back. I was not required or even encouraged to post a separate review on this item. Yet I had such a nice experience with it that I decided to feature it on its own. I've seen these sold at Target, Walgreens, and CVS. They are not found in the cosmetics isles but in the skincare isle, right next to the Pond's Cold Creams.

The Luminous BB+ is a luminous (semi-dewy) BB Cream with a light coverage. It comes in two colors: Medium and Light. I was sent Light which is obviously not the correct shade for me. As a MAC NC25-30, I always grab the Medium shades when face products come in Light, Medium, and Dark. You can see from the comparison swatch above that the BB+ in Light is much paler and pinker than my regular foundation. Surprisingly, I'm able to get away with wearing Light because of its light coverage. It does make me less yellow, but it's not noticeable after I have applied face powder and bronzer. The texture is thicker than most of my liquid foundations. This makes it feel creamy and a bit moisturizing on the face. I'd like to point out that although the coverage is light, it is by no means sheer. It does cover something (a few somethings actually). It could have even more coverage if I was able to build it up, but since I don't have the right shade I can only wear one layer. The packaging is sturdy and functional. It's very travel friendly. The only downside I found is that, like most tinted moisturizers and BB Creams, this is not very long wearing.

Overall: I think this is a great BB Cream for dry, normal, and combination skin types. It's luminous but not really dewy. It actually provides some coverage, and while you'll still need to conceal blemishes, it tones down redness and evens out the skin. I won't go into the skin beneficial claims because we all know drugstore items are notorious for their exaggerated poppycock (will eliminate pores, 300% longer lashes, self-adjusting formula will match all skin types, etc.)

I'm so pleasantly surprised with this product. Pond's is known for their face creams (which I don't like as moisturizers although they do a nice job at removing makeup) so I didn't have high hopes for this BB Cream. It's the perfect throw-it-on-and-go everyday face product. I recommend you give this a try!

  2. I really love how it looks on your skin! A shame it's not very long wearing (but like you said, most of the BB creams have this). Lovely review, thanks for sharing :)

  5. Your picture really does show how the BB cream applies and covers. I love BB creams for a nice sheer coverage enough for everyday use :) Ponds is a brand that i haven't heard much of and i'm not even sure whether it is available in the UK really. I enjoy products that give a luminous glow but not horrendously dewy as i have combination-oily skin :)

Thanks for the review, it was interesting to read about a new product from a brand i haven't heard much about. I hope you have a lovely day :)

  7. I've seen quite a few girls here in asia mostly though review this bb cream! I'll really like to try more high end foundations this year although I love bb creams! I'm going to get mini sized bbs, as I use so little! I think it looks great on your skin though, although it maybe a bit light. I usually go for medium too, just because I don't like a base being too pale or pink even if it matches my face.

  9. I purchased this and I like the product itself. I think the colour is kind of weird on me as well, but my neck is darker and yellower than my face and chest so matching is impossible anyway.

    1. That's a shame. That's how I felt about the Hourglass Immaculate Liquid Foundation I tried. Loved it, but the color match was away off x

  11. I've never heard of this brand before but it sounds like such a good dupe for the nars sheer glow and for so cheap, I hope I can find this in the UK because I really want to try it now x

  16. Looks lovely on your skin, but a shame that it's not too long-wearing. Definitely a no-no for my oily skin. Thanks for the review! xo

  18. Despite being the wrong shade, it actually looks like it still matches you pretty well. Makes me wonder how dark the medium shade would be. I haven't seen this around, but after seeing this I might keep a better eye out for it in drugstores!

  20. The BB cream looks great on you. I have such a horrible luck with American BB creams because they always seem to oxidize on me. The oompa loompa look is just not cute. haha.
