Hello, lovelies! Today I want to recommend to you my favorite pencil eyeliners, the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils ($19). I own these in three colors: Perversion, Zero, and Crash. The Glide-On eye pencils are very popular makeup items and have somewhat of a cult status in the beauty world. I do know of people who dislike them because we all have our favorite eyeliners and not everyone uses them in the same way. I'll also be doing a comparison between Urban Decay's two black shades Perversion and Zero.
First, let's talk about why I love the 24/7 Glide-On formula so much. For me, they are the perfect eye pencil. 1) They are nicely pigmented (what you see on the outer packaging is what you get on the eye). There's no need to run them across your waterline over and over. 2) They're creamy. No unnecessary tugging on the delicate eye area. You know there are some crap eyeliners out there that make you feel like you're going to tear your eye off. Not these. 3) They take a few seconds to set. This can be a good or bad thing. For me, it's a plus. It gives me time to smudge them along the bottom or top lash lines if I want to. If you have very watery eyes or an oily eye area, this can mean smudging on the waterline before they have fully set. 4) They last long and don't smudge on my waterline. Some liners need to be set with eyeshadow or else they'll transfer and I'll look like a raccoon. Not the 24/7 Glide-Ons. I only go over them with eyeshadow when I'm doing a smokey look (because to me it looks better, not because they need it). Also, the 24/7 Glide-Ons come in over 30 colors (yes, really) so you're bound to find what you're looking for.
So of, course, here's the big question. These cost $19, why shouldn't I just get a $9 black eyeliner at the drugstore seeing as there are tons? In my experience, the drugstore eyeliners I've tried are either creamy but smudge or long-wearing but dry. And when I do find one that has all the qualities I look for, it's usually not very long wearing. My waterline eats it up for some weird reason. I have to take them with me for frequent touch ups (specially for nighttime events like da clubs and da bar) which means more sharpening and using them up quicker. I've had that one 24/7 Glide-One in Zero for years. Before that, I used to go through at least 2 drugstore eyeliners a year. In the long run, the cheaper liners ended up costing more because I had to repurchase more often.
Now that that pointless rant is out of the way, what's the difference between Zero and Perversion? Nothing much, really. Perversion is a visibly darker black, one of the blackest liners in the market. Because it's more saturated, it's also a tad softer which might mean more smudging for some. I haven't had a problem with it though.
I hope this was helpful to some of you. It amazes me how much I can go on and on about an eyeliner (for God's sake!) Let me know if you've tried the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Pencils. Do you love them as much as me or did they not work out so well for you? What's your favorite eyeliner pencil?
