Maybelline Limited Edition Dare To Go Nude Color Tattoos

Whenever Maybelline releases new limited edition shades of their Color Tattoos ($6.99) a frenzied drugstore hunt begins and it can last a couple of weeks. Although the hype has died down and Color Tattoos don't tend to sell out anymore, I have extreme difficulty finding their limited edition displays locally. Thankfully I was able to get my hands on three shades from the Dare To Go Nude collection. I initially meant to only get Caramel Cool, but you know how it goes.

The Maybelline Color Tattoo formula has been reviewed extensively by many bloggers so I'll just say that these are consistent with the regular permanent formula. They're creamy and long wearing. They are easy to blend as they're all shimmer/metallics (I find the matte Color Tattoos to drag and pull more than other matte cream eyeshadows). The least pigmented shade of the bunch is Pure Nude, a pearly beige. To me this shade is not a must have and it's the one I use the least. Beige-ing Beauty is similar to MAC's Let's Skate Paint Pot in the sense that it adds shimmer and glitter without much color (Let's Skate is pinker though). It's perfect for adding shimmer to matte eyeshadows because the glitter comes through from underneath. Last, but not least, is Caramel Cool. This is the absolute must have for me. It's gorgeous and I'm glad I love it as much as I was hoping I would. Go and get this, for reals.

Keep an eye out for future makeup looks featuring these new Color Tattoos. Have you picked some up?

  1. These look really lovely.. but I have tried a couple of the original pots and I just didn't get on with that at all. I found them really hard to blend.. but perhaps they just didn't work for me. These colours look lovely though!

    1. Oh, I definitely know what you mean. I hated them at first because I tried the matte shades first and those are really stiff (like I mentioned above). The shimmery shades are better, and the metallic shades are the best (like Bad To The Bronze). So, there are some that are hard to work with and some that are much much nicer. Still... I prefer MAC Paint Pots over even the nicest of the Color Tattoos because the Paint Pot formula is thicker but creamier and you don't have to work with it as fast. Also, the Color Tattoos start to dry out and crack faster in the jar so they don't last you feeling "fresh" as long as other cream eyeshadows. So I generally give them like a B, B+ rating but Caramel Cool is definitely an A.

  13. Omg, Coco, please stop posting about maybelline CT! We only have 8 shades and just had 2 more added for a total of only 10 sold here! I'm so frustrated and want to buy all the newer shades from the last few collections that seem to be smoother in shimmer and are such fun and pretty shades! I totally want that caramel and the beige! Sooo jealous!! Grr! >.<

  14. I've always been meaning to try some of these colour tattoos as I hear they're a pretty good dupe for M.A.C paint pots. The three you have here look to be right up my ally, I don't think I would use the brighter shades for the permanent line too often.
