Make Up For Ever 160 and 311 Eyeshadows

Make Up For Ever Eyeshadows ($21) are some of my favorite formulas in the market, specially when it comes to bright colors. You can get nice neutrals from a variety of places, but bright shades are harder to master. Make Up For Ever definitely has the formula down. The colors I want to share with you today have already been featured in a makeup look in the past (see it here). They aren't exactly "bright", aubergine and burgundy are on the tame spectrum but they are purples nonetheless.

Notice how n.160 is labelled as a blush. Some of MUFE's eyeshadows are labeled this way, even though they are the same size as the other colors labeled "eyeshadow" and certainly aren't your traditional blush colors. I don't know the reasoning behind this and MUFE even offers powder blushes which are bigger in size (like a traditional blush). Whatevs....

Make Up For Ever eyeshadows are incredibly pigmented, soft, and long wearing. They are really expensive so I tend to only purchase them using discounts and only to get colors that are harder to find in other brands. What I love about MUFE's packaging is that, just like Tarte Blushes, they have a small hole in the back where you can insert any thin pointy object (a tack or a pin) and pop the product out of the casing. It's the easiest and most seamless depotting process that has the added benefit of being reversible.

In case you are curious about dupes, I found a nearly perfect dupe (in terms of color, not formula) for n.311 from Coastal Scents (it only costs $2!). I'll be posting about that in a dupes post soon. As for n.160, at one point it reminded me of MAC's Fig 1 but after comparing the two I found n.160 to be brighter and more purple.

Let me know if you're also a fan of Make Up For Ever!

    1. I agree, they're not talked about enough as a brand overall, but I think that it has to do with the fact that it's an expensive brand that is not as readily available as say Laura Mercier or MAC x

  11. Wow, these are absolutely stunning! Love a good smokey or shimmery purple. I have a MUFE blush packaged that way, but luckily it's a coral shade, so it makes sense :)
