I showed the Wet'n'Wild MegaLast Liquid Lipstick in Back to the Fuchsia ($1.99) on my Instagram a while back and promised to have a review on it. I want to (slowly and steadily) review all of the liquid lipsticks in my collection and then do a roundup/comparison posts of all the formulas. Same with my cream blushes. It's quite a project but something I really want to do.
Now here's the thing about this liquid lipstick.... I think it's one of those love it or hate it ones. It's the longest wearing lipstick I've ever ever tried. And I thought the Stila All Day Liquid Lipsticks were long wearing but they have nothing on the Wet'n'Wild's. The pigmentation is great and their longevity is amazing, but there can be too much of a good thing. These are so hard to remove! You have to literally scrape, rub, scrub, and wet your lips even after hours of wear. Don't even ask how hard it was to remove the arm swatch. Not only that, but they set in such a rigid way that your lip creases become very accentuated. The Wet'n'Wild formula feels to me like old-school liquid lipsticks such as the L'Oreal Infallible Never Fail Lipcolor. Those included a glossy balm to put on top because of how harshly they dried. So if you're used to the flexible comfortable wear of new liquid lipsticks such as the Hourglass Opaque Rouges, NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams, etc., know that you won't get it with this.
Overall: Much drier, harsher, and tighter than most liquid lipsticks in the market. The lasting power is amazing, but these are really hard to remove. They accentuate lip creases but it's something that can't be seen from afar. I would pick every other liquid lipstick in my collection over this any day, even if these wear longer. However, if you want the longevity and retro matte finish of liquid lipstick but don't want to spend a lot, do give these a try.
