Too Faced Melted Lipstick in Melted Coral

too faced melted lipstick melted coral review
Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick in Melted Coral, $21: I adore liquid lipsticks. That's no exaggeration. When I saw Too Faced was coming out with their own range of liquid lipsticks I got more excited than I ever have over a makeup release. I wasn't able to buy one right away because I had save up for it first. And if I could I'd get all the shades they offer, but the one that stole my heart the most was Melted Coral

My fear was that these would be like the Rimmel Apocalips/Show Offs: extremely pigmented and opaque shiny lacquers that don't set and smear/transfer easily. Thankfully, they're not. They are not like most liquid lipsticks either (the ones that come with a doe foot wand) because they don't set to a transfer-resistant retro matte finish. These Too Faced Melted Lipsticks are closer to an OCC Lip Tar, but are thicker and not as matte (and easier to work with). These remind me the most of Bite Beauty Cashmere Lip Creams. They are really similar to that formula, actually. So if you enjoy those you will like these.

Basically the Too Faced Melted Lipstick: feels smooth and creamy. It glides and applies easily. It doesn't accentuate dryness. It's very pigmented and opaque. The finish is a creme/satin: neither matte nor shiny. It's not transfer-proof like some matte liquid lipsticks, but it wears well and doesn't bleed.

I really like this! I love that it's not glossy. I'm a matte girl but I sometimes like to mix it up without going full-on shiny. This is great for people who are prone to dry/flaky lips that have always wanted to try liquid lipsticks but were put off by the ultra matte finish that most have.

I keep meaning to make a round-up post featuring the best and worst liquid lipsticks in my stash but it keeps getting put off every time I buy yet another liquid lipstick, haha. Have you tried the Too Faced Melted Lipsticks?

  1. These got amazing grades from Temptalia and when I swatched them instore I was blown away! This shade also caught my eye, it looks gorgeous on you! Good to hear it's nothing like the Apocalips, those transfer like a nightmare! Definitely want to give one of these a go :)

    1. Yes! I totally recommend them. They're thicker and stay in place much better than the Apocalips. x

  2. I've been really keen on trying the peony colour. I love long lasting products. However, I'm not too sure about the matte finish as I prefer glossy lip products.

  10. I swatched these at Sephora right as I was being pulled away from the store (literally being pulled by my mother) and it was like one of those moments where you just drop it in disbelief because it felt so smooth and creamy! I love all the colors, and like you, would own every color if I could. At this point I'd settle for one, though, haha! Absolutely lovely color on you!

  13. I need to get around to trying these. I've heard mixed reviews about the lightest shade, Melted Peony, but the rest seem to work pretty well for everyone.

Also, I can't help but admire your Shimmering Sea eye look again!

  15. I have a melted lipstick (in peony)- but it does that thing where it forms a filmy-build up on the insides of my lips D: I've hear a couple other people mentioning this too, I have no idea why it happens >0<

  17. I'm intrigued - I've never tried a liquid lipstick - do they dry really fast, or do you have to sit there fanning your face for a bit?

    1. It's usually a matter of seconds. This one particularly doesn't dry matte but the ones that do usually do so in about 30-50 seconds. x
