Ellis Faas Creamy Eyes in E127

The Ellis Faas Creamy Eyes ($36) have been featured on both Lisa Eldrige's and Pixiwoo's makeup videos. Those ladies sure know how to create beautiful looks so the Creamy Eyes went straight into my "Maybe Someday" high-end wishlist. The thing is, Ellis Faas products aren't widely available in the United States (you can get some of their products at Sephora.com though). Not only that, but they are also very expensive. Consequently there aren't that many reviews or swatches of their products (compared to "mainstream" brands). All these factors make ordering Ellis Faas products a gamble. Then I saw several EF products on B-Glowing's 75% off clearance sale. I ordered the Creamy Eyes in E127 to see if I liked the formula. I did (I love it actually) so I am kicking myself for not ordering more. When I checked back I saw that they were out of stock (obvs). Hopefully that amazing sale will come around again soon.

E127 has tiny golden shimmer but it's really difficult to detect or photograph so we might as well call it matte. It's the most gorgeous caramel/corduroy/camel color (yep, that's what I'm calling it). The eyeshadow is a thick liquid/paste. It feels like the Rimmel ScandalEyes Eyeshadow Paints, except the Ellis Faas formula is a million times better. E127 gives me enough time to properly blend my eyeshadow (just compare these patchy edges to the ones above) but once it sets it doesn't budge. It's very long lasting and crease resistant. I seriously need more of these.

A quick note about the packaging: the whole Ellis Faas aesthetic consists of these bullet/pen packaged products. I don't mind it. I actually think they look attractive and quite minimalist. I was very disappointed when I got mine, though. I thought it would be made of metal or something weighty. Instead, it feels like cheap plastic. This makes it very travel friendly (it won't weigh down your travel bag) but it cheapens the product. For how much it originally costs ($36), I was expecting YSL or  Guerlain style packaging (one that feels sturdy and luxurious). Also, since the pen has that twisty click-up mechanism, you'll have to twist the wheel for about 3 hours a while before product finally comes out. That's normal and only happens the first time you use click-y twist up products.

So if these are within your price range: get 'em!! If you can find them on sale: get 'em!!

  2. It looks and sounds lovely but for that price I expect a bit more from the packaging as well. I think I'll pass but Lisa Eldridge does have a way of making you covet things doesn't she? She makes everything she uses seem amazing!

  8. Wow, this looks like a beautiful product! Such a wearable, yet seemingly unique, shade that looks lovely on you. But yes, I would've expected some weighty metal packaging!
