Sephora Double Contouring Cream Blush in Apricot Sheen

Let's be real, a few years ago the Sephora Collection line was very uninspired. The quality of the products felt like duds you'd find at the drugstore but with a higher price tag. Thankfully they redesigned the line and reformulated existing items (the new eyeshadow singles are pretty good!) A personal favorite of mine is their Cream Lip Stain (it was recommended in the comments by one of you a long time ago). Today I'll be reviewing their Double Contouring Cream Blush in 01 Apricot Sheen ($16).

The formula for this blush is actually pretty good! It feels smooth, thin, and blends effortlessly. It's not overly dewy so I would say it sets to a satin/matte finish. The pigmentation is right in the middle: neither sheer not crazy pigmented. What do I call crazy pigmented? Things like the Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge. One tap of your brush is enough for both cheeks. This means the Double Contouring Blush is easy to work with but will need layering to show up on deep/tan skin tones.

I rarely want cream blushes with shimmer in them, but this time I did. The shimmer in Apricot Sheen is small and gold-toned. Sadly, it doesn't really show on the face. :/ Might as well be matte.

About the packaging: This blush is domed. It protrudes like a bubble, reminiscent of Guerlain Meteorites Bubble Blush and the new Benefit Majorette Booster Blush. In order to open this blush you need to pinch the sides and the lid will pop open. I find this unnecessary and wish it were flat like every other cream blush compact. However, the packaging is not huge or overly bulky so I can manage.

Have you tried this? What are your favorite products from the Sephora Collection?

  1. This seems pretty nice! I really love the colour. The Sephora brand really seems to be picking up their game, I've been hearing a lot of raves about their products. I'm really excited to try them out when they come over to Australia!

  2. I remember swatching Sephora products a few years ago when I was in Italy and they were all really bad, but it really looks like they've been stepping up their game as of lately. This blush looks lovely. If the shimmers showed through, it would be even better I think.

  3. I love apricot or peachy colored blushes. I've recently become a fan of creme blush, and my favorite right now is by Flower Cosmetics (at Walmart). Really affordable but nice quality :)

  4. Looks so pretty with the micro shimmers! I usually don't give Sephora-branded products much thought, but it seems like they've improved a lot lately.

  6. Sephora really did step up their game with their products within recent years. Not everything they make is of fantastic quality but some of it is far superior to other pricier brands in their store! :)

  7. it's funny how little i hear about sephora's range of makeup given that everyone goes into sephora and is aware of it, no one really talks about their range and even though a lot of blog/youtube content is sponsored these days, beauty addicts will still try out new products they haven't been sent and will still talk about them, so it leads me to believe sephora brand products might just not be that good? the only thing i've heard about is the cream lip stains so i picked up the red shade, but i'm glad to see a review on something else from their line.

i've just not known if it's worth trying or not but i'll take a look at these cream blushes next time i'm in a store now. :)

    1. The Sephora line has been mediocre for years. I tried their stuff and wrote them off, but they've re-done a lot of their products lately and they are just as good as some of the high-end brands they carry. The Lip Creams I mentioned in the first paragraph are amazing! x

  16. I've tried very little from the collection as I love in the UK and prefer to swatch before I buy. I have one of their powder blushers (in doll pink) though and I love it!
