Makeup Geek Eyeshadow Singles: Review

I'm happy to report that my Makeup Geek Eyeshadow ($6) collection has grown a lot since I started this blog. Their eyeshadows were the second product I ever reviewed here. I had made two previous orders from the site and was recently sent these colors to try. I will post a separate collection roundup in the future, but for now I'm going to show you the more recent colors. I was sent these by the brand but I got to pick the colors out myself. I picked shades that had been on my wishlist plus some of the newer spring releases.

White Lies: I like to have matte white eyeshadows handy because I end up using them a lot during Halloween or whenever I do 60's mod inspired makeup. White Lies is nicely pigmented but a little dry and chalky. It's not the best matte white I've ever used but it gets the job done nicely.

Glamorous: I love this color, a soft shimmery amber. The texture is great and so is the pigmentation.

Cupcake: This shade is on the pale side and needs some building up, but its texture is buttery and soft.

Goddess: Like Glamorous, this is another really lovely one. It's a shimmery copper with great pigmentation and texture.

Burlesque: I believe this is the stand out color of the bunch. It's a plummier version of MAC's Cranberry and it looks absolutely beautiful on the lids.

Bitten: This is a lighter matte version of Burlesque. They go very well together. It also has nice pigmentation and texture.

Poppy: This color is one of their newer spring releases. It's so fun and pretty! A great tangerine that looks great on the lid or on the crease (seriously, give oranges a try on the crease, you might really like it).

Razzleberry: I wanted this color for a long time because it looks really unique on the pan. It's a bright raspberry red with gold glitter. Although the base itself is very pigmented, the gold glitter basically disappears upon application. So sad :(

High Tea: I think this color simulates the #thedress phenomenon. Sometimes it looks obviously grey to me and sometimes it looks like an olive green. On their website they describe it as "a matte medium brown with strong grey undertones". I think it leans more towards whatever color you pair it with.

Duchess: A matte royal purple. It has a nice texture and pigmentation. I had nothing like this in my collection. My other purples tend to lean towards blue or violet.

Sea Mist: A gorgeous shimmery/metallic turquoise teal. I like this a lot better than, say, MAC Steamy because it's less blue and I think that flatters my skin tone more.

Ocean Breeze: A blackened metallic blue. This color is so soft and pigmented. I really like it.

In summary, although a few shades could use minor improvements, Makeup Geek eyeshadows don't disappoint. And if you're thinking of placing an order soon, you must get Burlesque!

  4. I've been debating on getting some of these cause I have really wanted them for the longest time. What do you store yours in? I'm more nervous to spend $20 on a carboard palette than anything.

  8. Razzleberry was the shade that drew me to this post because that gold glitter looks divine and unexpected. Sucks that it disappears.
