Female Health: Feel Refreshed

rephresh feminine health gift card visa giveaway blogher bbloggers
When the opportunity to write this post first arose, I thought it was really peculiar how I was immediately hesitant to talk about it because of its subject matter. That doesn't really make much sense considering this space is dedicated to beauty and lifestyle topics and my readership consists, mostly, of women who are 18 to 30 years old. I then thought that that, precisely, should be reason enough to write about it, to dispel taboos, normalize the subject, and hopefully eliminate embarrassment. So here's some important information about overall women's and vaginal health. I wish I had stumbled upon or thought to look these things up back when I was a teenager.

The basics, what is vaginal pH?
The pH of a substance is a measure of how acidic or basic it is and it is expressed on a scale of 0 to 14. A lower number means greater acidity. Therefore, vaginal pH refers to vaginal acidity. Its average healthy acidity ranges from 3.5 to 4.5.
Why is it important to keep your pH balanced?
Although you may not have known it, an imbalance in your vaginal pH levels was probably the cause of undesirable symptoms you've experienced in the past. When vaginal pH gets unbalanced, women experience odor and discomfort.
How does vaginal pH become unbalanced?
There are situations that affect your pH levels and may lead to an unbalanced pH such as: menstruation, sex, and douching. Blood has a pH of 7.4, so naturally vaginal pH becomes elevated during your period. Tampons can contribute to the imbalance since they retain fluids. Semen is quite Alkaline, 7.1 to 8 on the scale, which is why intercourse can lead to an unbalanced vaginal pH. Alternatively, water, soap or cleansers can affect vaginal pH. The pH of water is 7 and fragrances and perfumes in soaps can also irritate the vagina.
So, as you've seen, there are a lot of factors and situations that can affect your pH balance. The one that affects it daily and which you can, and should, take control of is the product you use during cleansing. Shower gels and body soaps contain fragrances which can irritate the vaginal area. Plus, they are usually stripping or drying and aren't the best products you can use there. It's a good idea to acquire a product specifically designed for that area such as the RepHresh Vaginal Gel which is clinically shown to maintain healthy vaginal pH, helping eliminate feminine odor and discomfort. A single application can maintain vaginal pH in the normal range for 72 hours. It's recommended by gynecologists and is safe for long-term use.
And if you are looking for a vaginal probiotic supplement clinically shown to balance yeast and bacteria to maintain feminine health you could try the RepHresh Pro-B™ Feminine Probiotic Supplement.*

I remember that when I was younger, I started seeing vaginal cleansing products in my friends' and family members' bathrooms. At the time, I didn't know about or understand much concerning female health or vaginal pH so I thought companies just wanted to sell you more products. That reminds me of a time when my friend told me panty liners were marketing schemes to which I replied: "Spotting and vaginal discharge are not marketing schemes." Haha!

RepHresh is the clinically tested, #1 trusted brand that empowers women to take control of their vaginal health. RepHresh Vaginal Gel is clinically shown to maintain healthy vaginal pH, helping eliminate feminine odor and discomfort. A single application can maintain vaginal pH in the normal range for 72 hours. RepHresh Pro-B Feminine Probiotic Supplement is clinically shown to balance yeast and bacteria to maintain feminine health.* Just one capsule per day helps maintain vaginal flora in a normal, healthy range.* Click here to learn more.
