Bronze Summer Smokey Eye: Pixi First Impressions

2015 has been a year of total accidental neglect for my blog and it's making me very annoyed and disappointed. Between traveling, moving, waiting for months to get Internet service, getting sick, work, school, etc., etc., updating my blog as often as I would like has become difficult. It could very well be that I used to be better at managing my time, but it just seems like it's one thing after the next. Anyhow, I was sent a curated box of Pixi by Petra beauty products during the summer and wanted to share my opinions with you since it was my first time ever trying their products.

I was sent these products to try by the brand (without compensation or blog post requirement) and I was elated when they contacted me because I had wanted to try Pixi products for ages. I've seen them featured on other beauty blogs and have seen the Pixiwoo sisters use their products in their videos over the years. However, Pixi is not super easy to find in the U.S. if you don't live near Target stores.

I was sent the following products:

Pixi Tinted Brilliance Balm in Lucent Glow (£12): A lot of brands have made their own versions of chubby lip pencils over the years but what really stood out to me about this one was the color. Lucent Glow is described as a "rose gold shimmer in translucent pink base." I'm not a fan of glittery or frosty lipsticks, however the shimmer in Lucent Glow is so fine (and pretty) that it seems like a lipstick version of MAC's Let's Skate Paint Pot. It makes a great topper for matte lipsticks. I think I might do a whole post on this later (different looks depending on what you use underneath).

Pixi Endless Silky Eye Pen in BronzeBeam (£12): This is the product that impressed me the most. This eyeliner pen is very silky and creamy and it doesn't budge once it sets. It definitely feels like a high-end eyeliner. It's creamy enough to use all over the lid as a base (or on its own) without it looking patchy. I featured BronzeBeam on my most recent dupes post and compared it to MAC's Teddy Eye Kohl.

Pixi Eye Bright Liner in Nude (£12): I've tried many nude eyeliners before but never in a twist-up form. This eyeliner is really nice too; it's pigmented and goes on evenly. It's not majorly long-lasting, but neither are most nude eyeliners (specially on the waterline).

Pixi Quick Fix Powder in Translucid (£18): This powder is very finely milled and is great for setting concealer, foundation or general touch-ups. There is nothing very unique about the formula so I think the most innovative thing about this product is its packaging. There is a mirror on the lid and the puff is attached to the tray that contains the powder meaning you can apply this with one hand without having to set anything on another surface. The container is really small so I think it was ideally made for traveling and on-the-go touchups.

I had a very positive first experience with Pixi products (specially the eyeliners) so I'd love to hear your own recommendations. Again, I apologize for my absence. There will be some really cool Halloween blog posts in the near future so stay tuned during September and October. :)

  6. Oh I've been wanting to own a pixi eyeliner forever and ever! I love all the shades they have and the fact that they work so well as an eyeliner and a cream shadow all over the lid is extra appealing! Love this simple but deep smokey bronzed eye! I'd totally wear that for the day or night! Don't worry about not being able to blog as frequently, we all get busy!
