I haven't posted a haul in ages because I haven't been able to buy any new makeup in a long time. However, I recently stopped by a newly opened Kiko Milano store and had to leave with a few items. I had never been to a Kiko store before or even seen their products in person. I was definitely like a kid in a candy store and can now understand why Kiko has so many fans. I've already used all of the products I hauled so I can share my thoughts on the quality along with the swatches.
These three products caught my eye the most (along with a Limited Edition blush but I ended up leaving it behind). From left to right: Matte Lipstick in 610, CLICS System Eyeshadow in 218, Intense Colour Long Lasting Eyeliner in 11.
Kiko Velvet Mat Lipstick in 610 Rosy Brown ($9): One thing I noticed was that most of their lipsticks are shiny/lustre/creme finishes. 80% of my lipstick collection consists of mattes since it's the finish I prefer so I found this a bit disappointing. Even the ones that Kiko labels as "matte" aren't all that matte at all. Anyhow, I picked up 610 because it looked like a nice 90's reddened brown. The tube is beautiful, the pigmentation is nice, and it feels great on the lips. My only critique is that I wish it were longer lasting and more matte.
Infinity Eyeshadow in 218 Avorio Macroperlato ($8): I think their eyeshadow selection is their most tempting area. There are a bunch of beautiful colors and finishes. I own too many eyeshadows already so I opted for a light beige with small silver glitter because I go through theses types of shades quickly. I tend to use them regularly as a browbone or blending color. The pigmentation is good and the texture is soft, but 218 is a bit powdery and disappears into the skin easily. These eyeshadow pans are meant to go into Kiko's CLICS palettes so I intend to build my own eyeshadow quad in the future.
Intense Colour Long Lasting Eyeliner in 11 Metallic Blue Teal ($8): This is the product I was most impressed with. When I swatched it at the store, it felt incredibly creamy and the color was both beautiful and pigmented. Luckily, it also wore really well on the eyes. Number 11 lasts several hours without smudging, even on the waterline. Its creamy and gives you some time to blend or smudge it if that's what you desire. This eyeliner completely feels like a high-end product to me.
- I find it quite annoying that Kiko doesn't name any of their products and they have so many! All those numbers are hard to remember and somewhat confusing (also really annoying when it comes to googling swatches). Edit: Apparently the products have names on their website (I found this out while looking for direct links to each product) but these names appear nowhere on the packaging or in the store.
- I understand the hype for this brand now! If Kiko had more international availability, I believe it would be a household powerhouse brand name such as NYX or Revlon. The store, the presentation, the quality, and the packaging are reminiscent of high-end products but the prices are equal to drugstore brands such as Revlon and L'Oreal.
- I believe I'm going to be visiting my local Kiko store frequently. I love that you can swatch and try every single one of their products in the store. If you have a Kiko store near you, I highly suggest you try and visit it. The price point is on par with most drugstore brands but you have the benefit of being able to try things before you buy them.
I never thought I'd be able to try any Kiko products so I skimmed over most of their reviews in the past. I don't really have any knowledge about their best or most popular products. I'd love it if you could recommend your favorite Kiko products in the comments section. Thank you! :)
