8 Perfect Rosy Hues: Makeup Roundup

Best rose and mauve toned makeup color products blush lipstick MAC Cosmetics MUFE NARS
I know some people don't like to wear pink anywhere other than on their cheeks and lips, but I think it makes for a timeless look regardless of the season. Red tones around the eyes can be intimidating and in some odd cases even unflattering, but a rosy pink is always a safe bet. Sticking to pinks that lean towards mauve can result in a classically feminine look that is very daytime and work appropriate. Here are my favorite 8 picks for rose toned makeup products from my collection. There's a nice mix of drugstore and high-end, mattes and shimmer...

1. NARS Illuminator in Orgasm: While I love highlighters in many forms, liquids might have become my favorite. It's the most versatile medium-- mix it with your foundation for an all-over glow or use it alone in specific areas. Liquid highlighters are, in my experience, much subtler and easier to work with. I enjoy in-your-face-strobing Insta makeup as much as the next person, but it doesn't always translate well into everyday occasions. Orgasm features NARS' classic peachy-pink golden shimmer but if you prefer a cooler toned highlighter they also make the wonderful 143 BKLR.

2. Bettina Matting Effect Lip Color in Precious: A nice everyday baby pink lipstick is the easiest and most common way to incorporate rose tones into your makeup. This particular product isn't anything special, but I want to feature and support more Puerto Rican brands as much as possible. The product isn't bad but pairing a matte formula with a twist-up plastic brush makes for a streaky application. The color is precious though (ha!).

3. Make Up Geek Eyeshadows in Bitten and 4. Cupcake: These colors go so well together. Cupcake is a nice muted pink that looks wonderful on the lid, browbone, and as a transition color. It helps blend out Bitten effortlessly. I've featured Bitten on this blog a lot, I love using it on the crease. It adds a nice contrast to smokey eyes and is a great way to warm up looks without going for the typical orange/brown.

5. MAC Cosmetics Jest Eyeshadow: One of MAC's most popular neutrals, I have always considered Jest to be like a pink toned version of Naked Lunch. It's the ultimate go-to inner corner highlighter: very pigmented but not about-to-go-clubbing disco ball; shimmery but not metallic. It's perfect for both daytime and nighttime looks. Of course, it would also look great all over the lid.

6. Make Up For Ever Sculpting Blush in #12 and 7. 818 Eyeshadow: Make Up For Ever pan makeup (eyeshadows and blushes) have gone through some revamping. If I'm not mistaken, they eliminated some products and re-numbered others. It's always been a pain to research MUFE products because they have no names. It's incredibly annoying and I have no idea why they don't do anything about it. However, if you're a MUFE fan (and it's easy to be, their makeup is incredible) then you'll probably love these two blushes. #12 (the big pan) is a muted matte mauve while 818 is a deeper rose with a satin finish. Technically, 818 is an eyeshadow but you can use it for whatever you want (and it's much larger than an regular eyeshadow pan).

8. NYX Cream Blush in Natural: This is an OG product. I first reviewed this in 2013. It has never been my favorite cream blush formula (read the original review to see why) but I've grown more fond of it over time. I've garnered a larger appreciation for dewey products now. (Or maybe my skin has gotten drier?) Anyway, the color is stunning! Do yourself a favor and pick this up next time your perusing NYX products at your local drugstore.

I could keep purchasing these same colors over and over, so if you have any suggestions for a rosy powder highlighter please let me know in the comments! Have a great day!

  8. This is a great list of products and I'm taking note on a couple of stuff. I'm not a fan of Orgasm powder blush as it's way too glittery on my skin, maybe the liquid version is better. Good call on the NYX cream blush too, I had one a long time ago and I think it's time for a repurchase.

    1. Yeah, lots of people love it. And it's not a bad blush but too metallic-y for me. x

  15. I can relate about MUFE and how hard it is to look through their color, they have name but I have to double check them on the website (which is not very handy). They have beautiful reddish eyeshadows, I tried a couple of them and they don't make eyes look swollen!
