Here's another review brought to you thanks to my housemate, yay! Sharing is caring. This is a really beautiful red-brown lipstick that she picked up at a MAC Cosmetics counter. I think you will really like this. It's a nice change of pace from the mass of beige/brown 90's nudes that are constantly getting talked about. Bowl Me Over is deeper in color and has a brick red undertone. It definitely reminds me a lot of the lipsticks I would find in my mom's and my friend's mom's makeup bags.
Bowl Me Over is listed as a Retro Matte finish. The famous Ruby Woo is also a retro matte. Several people have complaints about this formula, myself included, because of how dry and chalky it is. It's hard to apply and you have to tug on your lips to get proper color payoff. Thankfully, Bowl Me Over is not like your regular retro mattes from MAC. It feels much more like a cream finish. It's soft, easy to apply, and does not have the flat look of retro mattes or liquid lipsticks (see the lip swatch).
I love this color, it has a great formula, and I recommend it to anyone who is looking to expand their neutral lipstick collection. It's a saturated brown-red that works just as well for daytime and nighttime makeup. I also really like how it looked with this hair color.
