Messy Smoky: Outfit and Makeup

Hello, lovelies!! Today I'm sharing a simple Outfit and Makeup of the Day. My outfit consists of a mustard cropped top from Urban Outfitters and a black maxi skirt from Forever 21. The look was kept "grunge-y" in the sense that there are no peach or pink colors on my face and the hair and makeup are quite messy. My makeup consists of a black smoky eye paired with messy, bedhead waves. More pictures of my outfit, makeup, and products I used keep after the cut.

OUTFIT: I would typically accessorize this outfit a bit more. It's on the simple side. However my jewelry is currently stored away because I'm in the middle of moving. My feet don't show but I was wearing black jelly flats.
FACE: My brushes are also stored away (and dirty!) so I went for a fuss-free foundation that would apply easily with my fingers (BECCA Luminous Skin Colour). It's a very sheer foundation so I concealed heavily using the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Concealer. The Luminous Skin Colour is a bit dewy so I set it with Paul & Joe's Pressed Face Powder. I went for a barely there cheek color that wouldn't compete with the eyes. I also contoured my cheeks and temples.
EYES: I used the Wet'n'Wild Comfort Zone Palette and Giorgio Armani Eyes To Kill #13 to achieve my dark smoky eye. I got the black GA Eyes To Kill in a blog sale recently. I bought it quite impulsively because it was discounted. Thankfully it's an amazing black. Very very pigmented. On my lashes I used Jordana's Best Lash Extreme (which I bought after seeing it on Lau's blog).
LIPS: Again, I didn't want to call attention to anything else expect the eyes so I went for a nude lip. I used the Tarte Matte Lip Tint in Exposed (review) and layered a lip gloss on top. Exposed isn't as nude as it looks in the picture. The lip gloss was the one that really muted out the color, it's quite milky and pigmented.

Glad you're enjoying the mascara, I want to stock up on those since it became an HG product and I don't think I'll ever be able to survive without it : D

  25. You look absolutely beautiful.

Truth be told, I think messy smokey eyes are the best! It looks a lot more sultry if that makes sense.

And your outfit does look gorgeous. The maxi skirt is basic but the colour of the top makes the whole outfit come together.

    Great post!

  32. Love everything! Arrgghhhh. Why can't I shade my eyebrows properly!! Also, I hope you are committed to wearing your natural hair color. Very few people can carry uber dark hair effectively and you are certainly one of them. You actually look unique with the darker hair color and olive skin. Most dark haired Latinas go lighter. I say rock a tan (w/ sunscreen) with darker hair. You actually reminded me of the only time I ever got really dark in the sun at the beach. I ended up staring at myself in mirrors for a long time because 1) I'd never gotten that dark before 2) I looked like a completely different person 3) I had the kind of sparkly café au laite brown skin that no tanner can duplicate. I believe only olive-toned gals can hit that color. I was soooo "feeling" myself. Now I know I just rapidly aged myself for the future but I still think about how AMAZING I looked back then every now and then...oooooooof.

    1. I know what you mean exactly! :) I love tanning with sunscreen at least a few times a year during the summer. It's aging, yes, but the tan lasts me for months because I tan dark not red. I also love dark skin with dark hair. I actually tried a plethora of lighter hair colors during the past year and a half but I'm going to stick to dark hair from now on. I'm letting my roots grow out right now. I like a lighter brown on me BUT my hair is so frizzy and fine that it just doesn't handle dyes well. My hair looks best and it's shiniest when it's "virgin". I know that goes for a lot of people but I see other girls that have dyed their hair and it looks SO good and healthy!

  33. You look like a GODDESS Coco!! Really, really gorgeous. I need to wear a smoky eye more often because I think it's so great on others but I just never feel very confident when I do one on myself :/
