Blogging on the Go and Summer Holidays with Intel Tablets

Besides using my tablet to try and read all the ebooks in my summer reading list, here are a few other uses for it. These are focused around blogging on the go and vacationing during the summer. Particularly in Orlando because that's one of the places where I'll be going this year (yay for theme parks!). Disclosure: I'm a member of the Intel Tablet Crew and received the Samsung Galaxy Tab3 for free. I was required to post about it once before but am not being paid to write this post.

(A sneak peek at my drafts!)
01. Blogging on Blogger and Wordpress apps
If you have been blogging consistently for over a year, you most likely have an amount of posts you like to publish weekly in order to keep your traffic constant. Scheduling posts before a holiday is the best way to let your blog run on its own and relax. However sometimes you just don't have time to prep or you may have a sponsored post due while you're on holiday. If you have the need to do some blog work on the go (like at the airport) download the free Blogger or Wordpress apps. Using the Blogger app is a thousand times easier than accessing the Blogger website on your tablet's web browser. The app allows you to upload pictures (from your folders or camera), as well as add links, and tags.

02. Snapping and editing social media pics
If you want to keep your social media outlets updated with your latest holiday pictures (like the "classic" toes-in-the-sand or the suntanning-knees shot, haha I joke) you can snap them with your tablet and edit them using apps like Photo Editor and PicsArt which have more features besides the typical crop and filters available on Instagram.

03. Touristing around with offline maps
Getting around new places is pretty easy with Google Maps and GPS applications available on our phones. However, these applications drain battery life very quickly and you don't want to be left phoneless by midday. Specially if you have to meet up with someone! Even worse, what if you're traveling internationally and won't have cellphone data to use GPS apps? What you can do is download a free offline map from the Play Store. They are available for numerous major tourist cities like New York, Orlando, Paris, London, Hong Kong, Seoul, etc. The offline maps will function without data or wifi but are still interactive. You can browse attractions, hotels, points of interest, and also access an in-app currency converter. You can also download offline maps for  entire countries for 0.99 cents.

04. Planning your day at Disney and Universal
Spending summer holidays at Disney World or Universal Studios was (still is?) a huge cliche when I was growing up. The first time I ever went to Universal was actually only two years ago! I'll be in Orlando again this summer to visit one of my best friends who lives there. Ideally, you wouldn't go to Disney, Universal, Busch Gardens, etc. during the summer because it's their busiest and craziest time, but sometimes it can't be helped. To aid you on your trip, you can download some helpful apps from the Play Store like Universal Orlando and Disney World Wait Time apps. They tell you how long the wait times are for the rides at the theme park so you can plan which places to hit up first. They even have schedules for the shows that will be happening that day. Another great app is the Disney Menus app where you can browse menus with prices of a bunch of restaurants so you can easily compare and decide were to eat.

If you have any more uses for your tablet during the summer please share them below!

  1. I've got no tablet but I've been thinking recently how handy it would be as compared to losing my eyes reading my blogroll on my iphone :)) This looks so handy and the interface is beautiful!

  2. I don't own a tablet, but my mum loves her iPad for all things. Both of my grannies own iPads, and that just speaks to the accessibility of tablets! Thanks for sharing about your tablet; Samsung really has stepped up their game in terms of design and software!
