Late to the Party: Too Faced Born This Way Concealer

Woohoo! A post that's not about a liquid lipstick! :D Once again, today's review is brought to you by my best friend Ashley. I borrowed her concealer so I could feature it on here. I know the Born This Way Concealers are probably passé by now and everyone has given their two cents on it. This is another post that was delayed for months by, you guessed it, dear Hurricane María. Although I'm sure those who love this product are still using it everyday. It's just the blogging and beauty community that has moved on and is talking about some other hyped concealer now. Still, I wanted to post this review for those who have a similar skintone to mine (warm, yellow based, light medium, MAC NC30) and may need help with shade selection.

Color Match

In terms of color, the Born This Way Concealer in Medium is as light as the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Custard but it's much more yellow. It ends up being closer to Ginger. If you enjoy MAC NC Concealers, which also tend to be very yellow, then you'd like this a lot. I personally wish it was less yellow, more neutral or beige, but that's just what works for me.

Consistency

It's a liquid concealer formula so it's nothing like the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealers. (I used those for shade comparisons and because it's my favorite concealer.) It blends well and has a lot of coverage. And for a liquid concealer, I find that the Born This Way Formula is on the thicker side. It reminds me a lot of the MAC Pro Longwear Concealer.

Verdict

I really liked the Too Faced Born This Way Concealer. I would purchase one for myself. It blends well and lasts long. It reminds me a lot of the MAC Pro Longwear Concealer except that Born This Way has more of a satin finish rather than the (sometimes drying) matte finish of the Pro Longwear. It also offers a lot of coverage (medium to full) so it doesn't provide the lightest feel or look. I find its name a bit counterintuitive. I would use it on dark scars, very red blemishes, and on days when my undereye circles look particularly bad. For me, it's more suited for full face of makeup or full coverage days.

Have you tried this conealer? How did you get on with it?

xx Coco

  3. hey who knows, maybe at the rate of how many new concealers are coming out (is everyone still obsessed with shapetape?), you'll rekindle someone's love for the born this way concealer :D

  4. The satin finish sounds intriguing. I love my MUFE full cover concealers but I'm looking for a separate undereye product. NARS creamy concealers have been on my radar but the liquid formula of this one might actually work better?
