A Drugstore Miss: Revlon Black Cherry Lipstick
Whenever you see a list of affordable fall/vampy lipsticks, 9 out of 10 times (totally made up statistic) it will include the Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Black Cherry. There are many Revlon lipsticks that I adore, Stormy Pink being the most recent one. However I was thoroughly disappointed with Black Cherry and found that it just wasn’t my cup of tea.
Worn sheerly, Black Cherry is alright. My problem with it is when I wear it to its full intensity. Obviously I wanted a dark red color like the one in the tube, so I won’t be wearing this sheerly ever. The thing is that Black Cherry doesn’t build up flatteringly, at least for me. If I posted the close up photo (which I won’t because it’s bad) you could see the color gather and look darker on my lip lines. Plus, it bleeds easily. It’s labeled as a creme finish but I’d describe it as a sheen because it’s very shiny and thin. I don’t mind that with lighter colors, but when it comes to the vampy lipsticks I think it’s best for them to be thicker or more matte so they aren’t messy.
In summary, it’s just not for me. When it comes to affordable vampy lip colors I prefer Revlon’s own Wine Not and I really like Black Cherry from Milani. My favorite at the moment would have to be Rosary from Kat Von D.
What’s your favorite dark/vampy lip color?
