Can we admire this beautiful compact for a minute? BECCA has outdone themselves. I saw the Rose Gold compact pop up in several blogs but, as beautiful as it was, I never thought I would purchase it for myself. First of all, it’s a damn expensive highlighter. Secondly, it looked very metallic in swatches. I’m not much of a highlighter girl as it is but when I do use highlighter, I prefer subtler finishes like satins and pearls. However, I was offered to go on a little Sephora shopping spree as a birthday present so I said, why not?
I will not go into my usual, long in-depth reviews that are classified by formula, pigmentation, and longevity. There is just not much to say about Rose Gold. It’s pretty and it works. The texture is really soft and nice to work with. I just think that nothing makes it stand out enough to justify it costing nearly $40. I want to point out that it looks really gold in the swatch, but when the light hits it it reflects pink so it’s definitely rose gold.
Bottom line: Good quality but I think it’s overpriced. I feel like a high price tag is justified when the product is something you can’t find from other brands. It’s a great shade for medium-tan skin tones seeing as most highlighters are very white/light. It could also work on pale skin tones because it’s pink/gold not just yellow. Some days I really love it but others I feel like it’s too much. I suggest swatching it in person to see how the color pulls on you and if the shimmer is too much or just right for your tastes.
Let me know what your favorite highlighters are. I’m still playing around with several. It’s the one makeup category where I haven’t found a favorite yet. Happy Friday!
P.S. I’m planning a 3,000 reader giveaway where one of the prizes will be an Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush. Please vote in this poll to help me decide which blush to give away. I would really appreciate it! 🙂
