Neon Summer: 3 Bright Lipsticks to Try this Season
It goes without saying that you can wear anything you want during any season. However, when autumn and winter come I know I’ll be wearing the heck out of dark vampy lipsticks. So for now I looked through my collection and pulled out some of my brightest colors for summer. Coincidentally they are all in the red/purple family. For some reason I seem to have fallen out of love with orange and peach (for now). My selection includes a true neon pink (MAC Candy Yum Yum), a bright warm red (Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm in Unapologetic), and a semi-opaque plum (glo Minerals Cream Glaze Crayon in Dahlia). They’re all three different types of intensity so you can choose depending on your mood and how bold you feel.
1. MAC Matte Lipstick in Candy Yum Yum: This is a true neon. I find that I have to be in a particular mood to wear this lipstick. I don’t wear it as much as I’d like to. I need to start pushing myself to wear it more. It’s weird because I can wear blue, black, and green lipsticks without a problem but this neon fuchsia makes me shy. In the picture above I wore it lightly as a stain. If you want to see how its full potential, you can check out my original review here.
2. Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm in Unapologetic: Once upon a time these lipsticks were incredibly hyped up. There was a time when Revlon in general was on fire with their lip product releases. The brand has sort of taken a back seat (whatever happened?) Anyhow, the ColorBurst Matte Balms are a great range and they offer the perfect summer colors. In this particular case I chose the warm red, Unapologetic, as my fave but the shades Showy and Striking are also must-haves.
3. glo Minerals Cream Glaze Crayon in Dahlia*: This is the only shade out of the three that is not a matte and is slightly sheer. Dahlia is a great work appropriate option for incorporating bright lipsticks into your summer makeup lineup. It’s definitely easier to wear because it isn’t as in-your-face but it’s still a pretty pop of plum.
Which bright lipsticks have you incorporated into your summer makeup looks?
xx Coco
Disclaimer: * The glo Minerals Cream Glaze Crayon was sent to me by the company as a PR sample.

27th Jul 2016 - 6:06 pmI love the Revlon Matte Balms! I have a shade called Standout, and that's my perfect red. I can't wear warm lip shades because they make me look sick and my teeth look yellow :/

27th Jul 2016 - 11:39 pmThese are all lovely. I don't think I'd have the guts to go for Candy Yum Yum, though – pinks make me shy, too!

I've been wearing almost only bright reds in the past few months, need to start using my pinks again!

29th Jul 2016 - 2:33 amAll of these look really good, I love the idea of wearing brighter shades in summer but I'm usually not brave enough to wear the truly bold shades.

1st Aug 2016 - 12:12 amI linked to the individual review post for the three lipsticks (where there are arm and lip swatches) so I thought it would be a bit redundant to swatch again x

29th Jul 2016 - 6:33 amI remember when Revlon lip products were super hyped up! I've gotten rid of most of my lip butters and their crayons now too as I just wasn't using them that much, but I've still got Unapologetic in my stash because it's such a great deep red colour, and the formula is still really good to this day. Not sure why no one talks about them anymore but it's funny how the blog world works, isn't it?
