ColourPop Cosmetics Lippie Stix in Feminist
ColourPop Cosmetics Lippie Stix in Feminist – $5: Dark and vampy lipsticks are difficult to master. A lot of formulas are either dry or patchy (or both!) ColourPop Cosmetics has gotten a lot of attention over the past year. I’ll admit that when I placed this order, their selection wasn’t as vast as it is now and Feminist was something I sort of threw in my cart in order to reach the free shipping threshold. I had seen swatches of it online and it looked pretty nice. I was hopeful to see if I could find a good dark purple lipstick. Here are my thoughts on it in case you’re interested in a color like this one.
Lippie Stix have an interesting shape. They’re much thinner than a regular lipstick bullet but not nearly as thin as a lipliner. The tip is slightly slanted. This takes some getting used to but in general it allows for a precise application. ColourPop describes Feminist as a “black purple with a matte finish” but I don’t consider ColourPop mattes to be real mattes. They look and feel more like a satin finish. Feminist is very opaque and pigmented. It’s creamy and it glides on easily across the lips. The thinness of the formula causes for some sheerer looking spots but overall it’s a good lipstick at a great price.
Any recommendations on products I should try next from ColourPop?
ColourPop Cosmetics Lippie Stix in Lumiere
I previously shared with you a review of the ColourPop Eyeshadows I purchased some months ago. When I made that order, my primary focus was getting their Fringe Eyeshadow and Pitch lip color (a supposed dupe for Lime Crime’s Salem). I decided I might as well spend $30 to get free shipping so I added some other things to my cart (not a difficult task because they have so many great items.) I ended up adding Lumiere to my cart because I had seen Kathleen’s video about it when it got released.
In her video, Kathleen described this as an “everyday, nude-ish mauve” and I think that description is spot on. I like that this is light enough to be an “everyday color” but it doesn’t fall into the typical nude, pink or peach spectrum. It’s somewhat dusty but not too cool toned so it sits right in the middle, making it flattering for almost any skin tone. Basically I really like it because it goes with a variety of makeup looks, you can put it on without much thought, but it’s not boring.
Formula-wise it also stands in the middle. Its finish is matte but not completely matte or retro matte. It’s fairly creamy and applies easily. I would definitely buy more of these, specially in the more unique colors they offer.
Let me know if you own any ColourPop Lippie Stix and which colors are your favorites!
