ColourPop Super Shock Cheek Highlighters
Today’s ColourPop Cosmetics review was brought to you by: my best friend Ashley (again)! Seriously, if you haven’t been able to acquire new makeup and are feeling bored with constantly using the same products, then raid your friend’s stash. It could help you get out of your beauty comfort zone. And you might fall in love with some products and end up purchasing them for yourself. Anyhow, today I’m going to share with you ColourPop Cosmetics Super Shock Highlighters in Hippo and Smokin’ Whistles.
Note: As you may see in the picture above, the back sticker reads “Smokin’ Whistles” but on ColourPop’s website it’s listed as “Smoke N Whistles”. This could be the result of a typo or a name change. I’ll refer to the color as “Smoke N Whistles”.
Hippo is described as a: “cool-toned icy lavender”
Smoke N Whistles is described as: “cool-toned pink champagne with silver highlights”
I think both descriptions are accurate. Hippo is the more unique color of the two. Although it says lavender, it looks pink on my skin. I love pink highlighters so I have no problem with that. Smoke N Whistles is a standard champagne. It’s pretty, but not a color that’d be hard to find elsewhere.
The formula for both Hippo and Smoke N Whistles feels the same so I’m going to review them as one product. When I first tried the SuperShock Eyeshadow formula, I thought it would make for amazing highlighters. So I’m glad ColourPop has expanded their range to include highlighters with this texture. The reason I like it so much is that it’s a cream to powder formula. If you haven’t tried ColourPop SuperShock yet, it feels like a dry putty. The reason I prefer this consistency to cream/liquid highlighters is that those can be a bit harder to apply. The oily and runny texture can cause those formulas to wear off quicker and move the makeup that’s underneath during application. Essentially, you get the best of both worlds with the SuperShock formula: the natural satin finish of cream/liquid highlighters with the ease of application and longevity of powders. Also, because this is a creamier formula, you won’t get the glitter fallout that is common to some powder highlighters. This means no random glitter chunks all over your face, your shimmer stays where you want it.
I highly recommend these products. They are affordable and great quality. These retail for $8 but ColourPop often has sales and coupon codes you can use so you can snatch these for only $6 or less. These are drugstore prices with better quality and a more unique color selection.
If you own any SuperShock highlighters, please let me know which ones are your favorites below. I’m making a mental list for when I get a few of my own. 🙂
