Eyeshadow Dupes Galore: MAC, NYX, Coastal Scents
I’ve been working on this post for a while. It’s been a pain to put together because a lot of my eyeshadows are scattered throughout my eyeshadow palettes. And to top it off, one of the eyeshadows from this list has gone missing. There’s a bunch of swatches here so hopefully they are useful to you. If you know of any other great dupes, please let me know in the comments.
Copperplate is slightly darker and less powdery. Both are nice quality eyeshadows.
These end up looking very very similar on the eyes. The main difference is that Spellbound looks more toned down and satin (not as metallic).
MAC Eyeshadow in Fig 1 ($15) // Make Up For Ever Eyeshadow in 160 ($21)
160 is darker but both achieve pretty much the same look on the eyes. Fig 1 is easier to blend. 160 is MUFE’s old eyeshadow version so you might be able to get it cheaper somewhere, who knows.
MAC Eyeshadow in Sable ($11) // Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Toasted ($18) // NARS Eyeshadow in Kalahari ($35 for duo)
I decided to compare these because a few readers said Sable and Toasted might be dupes for Kalahari. I’ve been looking for Kalahari dupes because I’m close to hitting pan and find NARS price per ounce quite expensive. Sadly, none of them are dupes for me. Kalahari is really metallic on the lids and that’s something neither Toasted nor Sable can imitate, specially Sable. Also, both are warmer in undertone (specially Sable). Regardless, all three are beautiful eyeshadows on their own right.
** Note on Coastal Scents Steel Grey and Urban Decay Gunmetal: There is no side-by-side picture of these two products because I lost Steel Grey in a cat-related accident prior to photographing the swatches. Sorry! Gunmetal is from my Naked Palette.
Both are pigmented and easy to blend. Chai Spice has a lighter, more yellow undertone.
Gypsy Green is lighter and less olive. It’s also less pigmented.
These look incredibly similar in the pan but when swatched Copper Pot looks more orange. Both have a similar formula. Copper Pot is a bit crumblier.
Coastal Scents Eyeshadow in Vintage Burgundy ($2) // Make Up For Ever Eyeshadow in 311 ($20)
I think this is probably the truest dupe in my collection. 311 is a bit more glittery but they look almost identical on the lids.
Coastal Scents Eyeshadow in Raisin Berry ($2) // NYX Hot Single Eyeshadow in Flustered ($4) // MAC Eyeshadow in Cranberry ($11)
Raisin Berry and Flustered are the closest although all are pretty similar. Cranberry is the brightest.
Both are great matte red eyeshadows. Pomegranate Red has a pink undertone while Daemon is a truer primary red.
I hope this helped you find cheaper alternatives for expensive eyeshadows. Let me know in the comments if you have discovered any great dupes.
