Eyes: Although a bit powdery, the Wet’n’Wild Knock on Wood trio is an excellent (and affordable) option for adding hints of mauve to your eyes. All of the three shadows are soft, pigmented, and easy to blend. I used the shade labeled “browbone” (a light, shimmery mauve) on the inner part of my lid, on the inner corners, and along my browbones. I then took “crease” (a matte brown) and “eyelid” (a deep mauve) and worked them onto the outer parts of the eyes, along the crease, and also on my bottom lashline.

I love wearing rosy-toned mauve makeup because it complements my skintone so nicely. I think rose mauves complement any skintone, actually, because they’re not predominantly cool or warm. They’re like a more interesting neutral so if you’re tired of the typical champagne and brown shades I’d suggest giving mauves a try. If you’re particularly interested in mauve or plummy blushes, you can check out a post I did a while ago on my mauve collection. Now on to the look…
Cheeks: Mauve is so easy to wear on the cheeks because almost every makeup brand makes a nice mauve-y colored blush. I used NYX Silky Rose powder blush. It’s a very pigmented matte blush but it’s not over the top by any means. If you want a more daring color you can try NARS Mata Hari (review coming soon). To give my cheeks a bit of a sheen I applied MAC Miss Behave Mineralize blush as a highlight.
Lips: I wanted a subtle nude-y mauve color on my lips so I went withthe Cover Girl Lip Perfection Lipstick in Sultry. If you’ve been reading my blog for I while, you might know that I don’t tend to wear lipgloss. However, my lips have been really dry lately so I’ve been into the glossy (and quite forgiving) effect that lip glosses provide. I paired Sultry with Revlon Color Burst Lip Gloss in Pink Ice. The packaging for the Color Burst lip glosses is gorgeous. Plus, they’re non-sticky and Pink Ice has a very delicate mix of glitters.
MY MAKEUP: Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum in 53 // MAC Mineralize Concealer in NC20 // Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder // Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer // NYX Silky Rose Blush // MAC Miss Behave Mineralize Blush // MAC Soft Ochre Paint Pot // Wet’n’Wild Knock on Wood Eyeshadow Trio // MAC Chromagraphic Pencil NC15/NW20 // Maybelline Falsies Flared Mascara // Cover Girl Sultry Lipstick // Revlon Pink Ice Color Burst Lip Gloss
Extras: I feel a bit disconnected with the “blogging world” lately because I’ve been mostly off Twitter and Facebook for the past week. It was a busy one, plus I got sick during the weekend. I still feel a bit off (I’m on a ginger ale and soda crackers diet at the moment) but at least I can go about my normal activities now. I hope you enjoyed this post and that you had a lovely weekend! ♥
