$5 Liquid Lipsticks: Jordana Sweet Cream Matte Lip Color
I can’t seem to stop reviewing liquid lipsticks! What gives? I don’t know, but lipstick is usually the cheapest and easiest way to try new makeup so I always appreciate new lipstick recommendations. So far, I haven’t been terribly impressed with drugstore matte liquid lipsticks. I saw the Jordana Sweet Cream Matte Lip Colors at Walgreens a few months back and decided to try them. They were only $5 each and I have a good track record with Jordana products, so I thought there was not much to lose.
Left to right: Creme Brulee, Red Velvet Cake, Sweet Marsala Wine.
Note: There is no closeup picture of Red Velvet Cake because it is one of the products I lost misplaced due to the move. I think I never even got to use it and I don’t have it with me test it so I’m going to ignore that color in the formula review.
As you might be able to tell from the pictures, these were a disappointment. I did not like Creme Brulee because it looks chalky and cakey on the lips. Pastel colors are hard to formulate, but a good liquid formula can be achieved. This one looks cracked and accentuates lip lines. It was also uncomfortable and hard to apply. Sweet Marsala Wine performs better but I still disliked it. It’s thinner and easier to apply but it’s also patchy. The color does not look nearly as dark (or pretty) as it looks in the bottle. That’s because the formula is not opaque enough. I could have layered it more, but as you may notice from the image above, some parts of the lip look darker than others. It does not apply evenly and by layering I was only making it worse.
In summary, I do not recommend these. Creme Brulee is chalky and cakey. Sweet Marsala Wine is patchy and applies unevenly. They do last a really long time on the lips, but why would I want that when they look bad?
Save your time and money and skip these. And please let me know if you’ve found drugstore matte liquid lipstick formulas that work well for you. Have a good day!
xx Coco
