LUSH Feeling Younger Skin Tint: A natural duochrome highlighter
I wanted to review this highlighter earlier (as in last year, during the holidays) because I feel like the festive party-season is when we are more likely to acquire sparkly new makeup. Highlighter, red lipstick, and glittery eyeshadow sales must soar during November and December! Anyhow, despite its duochrome shift from pearl white to pink, this highlighter from LUSH is subtle and very suitable for everyday use as well.
LUSH is a great brand. A lot of their products are vegan, they’re cruelty-free, and the company emphasizes the importance of corporate transparency and fair-trade ingredients. They are mostly known for their bath and skincare products. It’s easy to ignore makeup at LUSH because everything else is a lot more eye-catching. However, I think the Skin Tints are worth taking a look at. Feeling Younger looks like your regular pearly white highlighter. White highlighters seem to have fallen a bit out of favor in the makeup community as people seem to prefer champagne, beige, and golden tones. It’s understandable, considering those look more natural and suit a larger range of skintones. What makes Feeling Younger unique is its pink shift (which I tried to capture as best as possible in the picture below). It reminds me of a subtler, less pink version of one of my favorite highlighters, OCC’s Creme Colour Concentrate in Pleasure Model (click for review).
My thoughts on LUSH‘s Feeling Younger Skin Tint:
– The whipped liquid-cream formula is great for dry skin. You can also mix it with your foundation for an all-over glow.
– Although its white base can make it look ashy on dark skintones, its pink shift makes it work on tan, olive, medium, and light complexions.
– Despite its duochrome, it looks very natural when blended. You can build it up to achieve the “strobing” look but you don’t have to worry about it looking like too much if that’s not what you’re into.
The only negative thing I can find about this product is that it doesn’t seem to set or dry down as well as other liquid/cream highlighters I’ve tried. It can feel a bit dewey on the skin which could be a setback for oily skin types. This may be due to its ingredients which include several oils such as almond and jojoba oil. It also has cocoa butter in it.
Feeling Younger has my seal of approval! Let me know if you’ve found any great products hiding in LUSH’s makeup range.
