Hi, beauties! Today’s makeup consists of a well-loved eyeshadow combination that I’ve shown on my blog before: Vex and Shale (from MAC). I have a MAC Pro Palette Eyeshadow Collection post/video in the works now that filled up my MAC palette. I’ll show swatches of Vex and Shale then. My makeup consists of pairing shimmery eyes with really matte mauve lips. I rediscovered some old favorites when doing my makeup. I hadn’t used the e.l.f. Studio HD Blushes in a few months and hadn’t worn Revlon’s Pink Pout in years!
Blush: I actually really like the e.l.f. Studio HD Blushes. They’re amazing products. The reason I don’t reach for them often is that I find the pump packaging to be a hassle. If you’re having some trouble applying them because of how pigmented they are, I recommend using a tiny (pinhead sized amount) drop and blending it in with a stippling or buffing brush. I love using the Real Techniques Expert Face brush (currently buy one get one half off at Ulta) with cream blushes, but it’s very dense so be sure to use little product.
Eyes: I used MAC’s Let’s Skate Paint Pot as a base because it’s incredibly long lasting and adds a lot of shimmer. On the lid I applied Shale and a bit of Vex on the inner corners. I highlighted my browbone with Orb (also from MAC). I also used a bit of Wedge (a very light brown) on the crease. I didn’t feel like filling in or shaping my brows so I just ran a clear eyelash primer through them. It works wonderfully as an eyebrow gel!
Lips: The eyes were slightly cool-toned so I searched through my lipsticks to find something that would compliment them. I knew right away that Pink Pout from Revlon would fit perfectly. Pink Pout holds some sentimental value (as silly as that sounds). It used to be my go-to clubbing lipstick “back in the day” and it’s one of the first matte lipsticks I ever bought. Pink Pout probably initiated my love for matte finishes. The last time I used it was in 2009 (crazy, I know!) The reason I remember the exact year is because I wore it to a friend’s birthday party and got a lot of compliments. It’s really cool-toned, the type that makes your teeth appear yellower. That’s why I had been hesitant to wear it all these years. I don’t find it as “teeth yellowing” now, I guess my whitening gel has worked (lol).
