I’ve been putting off this review for a couple of months because I always like to give products that don’t impress me a fair chance. I like to test them several times under different conditions and with a different application. And as much as I adore the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencils, the color Train Bleu ($25) and I are not meant to be.
The formula is consistent with the rest of my NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencils: pigmented, retro matte, creamy, easy to apply, doesn’t tug, and long wearing. However, there is something about Train Bleu that is a bit off. It catches on all of my lip imperfections (big or small) and accentuates them. Even if I apply it right after exfoliating and moisturizing my lips, I can’t get it to look even. My other Velvet Mattes apply without any trace of patchiness so there is no excuse. You can’t see it from afar, but I can’t wholeheartedly recommend Train Bleu.
You can see a full-face picture of myself wearing Train Bleu in this outfit post.
Do you own this? Tell me what you think. What’s your favorite vampy lip color?
