Through Neutrogena‘s Beautiful Inside Out Campaign, the brand aims to provide the right products necessary for a weather-proof look. To begin with a clean and cleansed face, Neutrogena suggests their Make up Remover Cleansing Towelettes, Oil-Free Grapefruit Cleansing Wipes, and Moisturizers. To protect your face from harmful sun rays, Neutrogena offers their Ultra Sheer Sunblocks. Their Shine Control line utilizes rice protein to keep oil at bay. The line includes a mattifying face primer, foundation, and face powder. Lastly, they offer the clump-free Healthy Lengths Mascara for everyday use. After trying out the products sent by Neutrogena, here are my top picks:
Make Up Remover Cleansing Towelettes – I have always thought these were the best makeup removing wipes available at the drugstore! I’ve tried to save money by using cheaper brands but I find that these work much better. They’re softer and more moist. They’re amongst the most expensive wipes at the drugstore, but they remove makeup more effectively meaning I only use 1 Neutrogena wipe vs. 2 or 3 from other brands. These don’t run out quickly and I love buying them in bulk from Sam’s Club.
Oil-Free Pink Grapefruit Cleansing Wipes – I’ve used the cleanser and the scrub from the Pink Grapefruit line before and have always thought they smelled amazing! These wipes smell just as good! They have Salicylic Acid in them and are meant to treat your skin (not remove makeup per se). They’re good for when you don’t have time (or are too lazy) to wash your face. Make sure to avoid the eye area or your eyes will sting!! These wipes leave that distinct tingly feeling on the face.
Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock – This is another product that I actually already owned! My sister used to use it and it’s been one of my favorites sunscreens since. I love that it doesn’t have the usual sunscreen scent. The smell is really subtle and unoffensive. It’s not thick and it absorbs really nicely into the skin. I definitely agree that it’s light. It’s not completely non-greasy but it leaves my skin feeling really soft.
Shine Control Primer – The Shine Control Primer claims to control shine, extend the wear of makeup, and leave a matte finish. I love the sleek, matte grey tube. Really nice packaging! I’ve worn this both alone (to control shine) and under foundation and it works great at controlling the oil in my T-zone. I definitely notice a difference when I wear this as opposed to when I don’t. I don’t need mattifying products on a regular basis, but I will be using this often during the summer.
Shine Control Powder in Invisible – This powder has rice protein to help control oils on the face. What surprised me the most about this powder is its texture, it’s different from anything else I’ve tried before. It’s really soft and buttery, almost milky. I think it’s the rice. When you touch your face, it feels like there’s film over the skin (in a good way) because it leaves a really soft texture. I think this might be how rice blotting papers feel, but I haven’t tried those yet. It’s translucent (not completely transparent) so it works best when used lightly as a setting powder.
MoistureSmooth Color Stick in Sweet Watermelon – Jumbo twist-up lip pencils are very popular right now. I’ve tried several from different brands so I’ll mention the things that make the Neutrogena MoistureSmooths different. The formula is very thin and emollient. It glides on the lips very easily and makes them feel smooth. I’ve tried other Jumbo lip pencils that have a waxier formula so this is definitely one of the most flattering ones. It doesn’t emphasize dryness at all. It also has a very sweet scent. This particular color does not replace a lip balm for me. Although it could be the glitter in it (which feels slightly gritty if you rub your lips together).
Overall: Neutrogena did a good job providing products that would stand up to the heat and humidity of the upcoming summer time. I think this is a great roundup. I’ve always loved their Makeup Removing Cleansing Towelettes and I think they’re great year-round. The MoistureSmooth Color Sticks are good to throw in your bag because reapplication is easy and fuss-free. If you have oily skin, using something like the Shine Control Primer under your foundation will definitely help.
