New Milani Naturally Chic ShadowEyez Eyeshadow Sticks
Hello, lovelies! I’ve been meaning to get this review out earlier. I don’t know what happened. I’ve professed my love for the Milani ShadowEyez Cream Eyeshadow Pencils many times before (see past reviews here). Milani released 6 new limited edition shades for their ShadowEyez range: Black Ink, Espresso Line, Cafe Au Lait, Almond Milk, Sand Dunes, and Golden Bronze. I don’t have all of them, I’m missing Cafe Au Lait and Golden Bronze but I will probably get them at some point. The ShadowEyez are, in my opinion, the best cream eyeshadows at the drugstore so here’s what I think of these new colors.
Formula
The formula for Almond Cream, Espresso Line, and Black Ink is exactly the same as the original ShadowEyez formula: super long wearing, easy to blend, very pigmented. ShadowEyez set quickly so try to work fast or do one eye at a time. I found Sand Dunes to be sheerer and more slippery in texture than the rest of the colors. For that, it is my least favorite.
Packaging
The plastic cap is more resistant than the cap in the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils (which cracks very easily). Still, it can come off if you travel with these a lot or don’t close it tightly. If it does come off and your pencil dries out (it happened to me with Brown Deluxe), just sharpen it to get rid of the dry layer and it’ll go back to its normal creamy state. They don’t dry out quickly is what I’m trying to say 🙂 Unless they get exposed.
Why You Need These
Milani needs to make these shades permanent, seriously. They are amazing everyday colors. Black Ink is so good as a liner or as a base for a dramatic nighttime smoky eye. Almond Cream is a great alternative to a creamy eyeshadow base like MAC’s Soft Ochre. It’s rare to see cream eyeshadows with matte finishes at the drugstore so I consider these to be gems. Also, a lot of drugstore cream eyeshadows are too oily, crease, and can mostly only be used as eyeshadow bases. However, the ShadowEyez can be worn alone and once they set they will not budge.
I’ve always loved ShadowEyez and these new colors make me love them even more. If you want to see them in action you can check out my Bronze Summer Makeup Look. I think all of them are must-haves except Sand Dunes (my least fave) which is a shame because I love the color.
You can get these at the drugstore if you live in the U.S. (or Puerto Rico). They are Limited Edition so they’ll be around for as long as they have stock, I guess. Thankfully, I live near low traffic stores and always see several in stock when I go to Walgreens. For international readers, you can check Amazon or eBay. This Amazon seller has them for $11. Also, if you really want them (or any other U.S. product) you can email me and I could get some for you, put them up in my shop for you to purchase, and mail them out to you.
Have a lovely day!

1st Aug 2013 - 12:36 pmI have to say, these look pretty darn lovely. The pigmentation is so intense and the colours are really wearable! They remind me of Rimmel's recent(ish) eyeliner releases which for a drugstore product are amazing. I don't think I'll be purchasing these (simply because of the cost of buying internationally) but if they were easier to pick up I'd definitely buy a few. xx

1st Aug 2013 - 2:46 pmI love espresso line and sand dunes! Sand dunes is a gorgeous shade but perhaps won't be flattering on it's own. I think it would look great if used in combination with espresso line! 🙂 x
