NYX Blush in Taupe: Review and Comparisons
Andrea chucked this into my basket when we were at IMATS a few months ago. Her words were “you need this”. I’m glad she did that because NYX Taupe Blush ($5) has been on my wish list for ages. It wasn’t a priority purchase because I own a lot of bronzers and contour powders but I’m happy to own it now.
Taupe has a very soft buttery texture. The finish is matte/satin. It’s easy to blend and really pigmented. It’s cool-toned which is great for fair complexion and pink undertones. It’s also good on warm complexions (since it mimics a real shadow) but you have to be a bit more careful if you’re warm-toned because some cool contours can look dirty. Since Taupe is darker than Illamasqua Hollow and not as grey, I think it looks great on my NC30 skintone (I hated Hollow, it’s too light).
The verdict– I love it. I was unsure it would work on me since I have a warm medium skin tone and get more tan during the summer but it ended up being dark enough. If you are looking for a cool-toned contouring powder/matte bronzer here are my suggestions:
For fair-light skin tones: Illamasqua Hollow Cream Pigment
For light-medium skin tones: NYX Taupe Blush
For tan-deep skin tones: MAC Shadowy Shaping Powder
