Overview: The Body Shop Wild Argan Oil Range
The Body Shop recently came out with an entire range of skincare items featuring community fair trade wild argan oil. I was sent several items from this collection by Shop At Home, an online shopping coupon and rebates site. I liked almost everything from the range but there was definitely one standout product. If you’ve been curious about this range since its release, keep reading below to see if it’s for you.
The products I received were: Wild Argan Oil Body Butter ($20), Wild Argan Oil The Radiant Oil for Body & Hair ($25), Wild Argan Oil Shower Gel ($8), Wild Argan Oil Rough Scrub ($20), Wild Argan Oil Bath Lily ($3), Wild Argan Oil Body Lotion ($12), Wild Argan Oil Massage Soap ($6), Wild Argan Oil Bubbling Bath ($12).
Wild Argan Oil The Radiant Oil For Body & Hair: I tested this thoroughly on both my hair and body and found I much prefer it as a body oil. I think the spray pump was the best possible way they could have packaged this seeing as the oil is very thin, any other sort of packaging would have resulted in a mess. It absorbs very quickly thanks to its runny consistency. On the hair it doesn’t feel heavy but I wouldn’t use more than two spritzes. I found that the softening effect on the hair isn’t as long lasting as other oils. However, I absolutely love it as a body oil. I tried mixing it in with the body lotion as well as applying it on its own and preferred the latter. It makes my skin super soft, absorbs quickly, and is perfect for applying right before bed.
Wild Argan Oil Body Butter: I’ve tried several different body butters from The Body Shop in the past and have found that there’s a slight variation in texture (just like with the Body Scrubs). In general, I prefer lotions over butters because I find butters to be a bit heavy for my skin, specially since I live in humid weather. The Argan Oil Body Butter in particular is one of the thickest I’ve tried. It was too heavy for my liking but would probably be nice on very dry, flaky skin. I’ve since resorted to using the body butter on my driest areas, knees and elbows, and applying the lotion all over.
Wild Argan Oil Body Lotion: This is my absolute favorite product from the Argan Oil range. I’ve already used a quarter of the bottle and have no hesitations about purchasing a new bottle once this one runs out. I love that it comes with a pump. I also love how lightweight it is and how soft it makes my skin, particularly my legs. My skin feels softer even after this has worn off. I totally recommend this!
Wild Argan Oil Rough Body Scub: I once went to The Body Shop with the intention of getting a body scrub and the sales associate informed me of the different kinds they offered. Besides the obvious differences in scents, their scrubs are either dry and “grainy” or softer like a jam. I prefer the grainy ones for a more abrassive exfoliation, but both kinds are effective. The Argan Oil Body Scrub is on the thinner, liquid-y side and it leaves my skin really soft after the shower.
The rest of the products are really good as well. The Body Shop shower gels provide a great lather and the massage bar soap feels very soothing. So if you were curious about this new release from The Body Shop, I think you must get the Wild Argan Oil Body Lotion, which is amazing, and the Shower Gel so you can layer scents. Let me know if you’ve tried any of these!
