Hello, lovelies! I’m very excited to share with you today the Paul & Joe Kitty Eye and Cheek Color Set ($65.00) in the color Gingerbread. This is a limited edition holiday set. I originally wasn’t going to put this review up today because I have a queue of “Best of 2013” and other holiday related posts that I want to get through before the year ends. However, this kit is currently on sale for 25% off at B-Glowing (which is where I got mine originally). It’s a great time to snatch this up!
First things first. The kit retails for $65.00 everywhere Paul & Joe Beaute is sold (which would be BeautyHabit, Asos, Urban Outfitters, recently Beauty.com, BeautyBay, etc.) If you’ve never heard of Paul & Joe before, I suggest reading my first post on them. Currently, I’ve purchased P&J products from Asos (because they were on sale plus I had a discount, though I recommend Americans not to purchase their products full price from Asos because you end up paying more thanks to the dollar-pound conversion), Beautyhabit, Urban Outfitters, and most recently B-Glowing. I’ve had a great experience with all of them. Their product selection is similar but not equal.
The kit includes: an eyeshadow duo, a cat-shaped kitty blusher stick, an eye gloss (not shown because I thought it was a lip gloss and gave it away to a friend, lol!), and a cat printed pouch. Let’s talk value. $65 was too much for me to swallow so I used a 20% off code at B-Glowing when I made this purchase. As I said before, it’s currently on sale for $48.50. Still sounds pricey, but Paul & Joe Beaute is a high-end brand that shares price points with NARS, Bobbi Brown, and the like. Really, I got this set solely for the cat shaped cheek/lip stick. The other products are just extra for me. Although, the cat print makeup bag is beautiful too! Call me obsessed, but I’ve been after these cat shaped lip/cheek sticks for ages (more on that here). They’re always limited edition releases.
What about the quality of the items? Consistent with other P&J products I’ve tried, they perform very well and aren’t just novelty items. The eyeshadow duo is very pigmented and soft in texture. Can’t speak for the eye gloss because I gave it away. The makeup bag is beautiful and silky soft, it feels quite luxurious. As for the star of the show, the cat-shaped cheek stick… well, I’ve only used it on the lips so far. I don’t tend to buy makeup just to collect it, that’s a big no-no for me. I like to use it and enjoy it, but I feel that if I use this on the cheeks the kitty design will get ruined too quickly. It performs beautifully as a lip color. It has great texture and a really good wear time.
Bottom line, this is a must for anyone who loves makeup and cats (I write this post for my beauty blog as my cat lays beside me napping). Or for anyone who became obsessed with the cat lipsticks after seeing them all over Tumblr. It would make the most precious gift. It’s also a great introductory kit to Paul & Joe products. The kit comes in two colors: Gingerbread (brown, pink tones) and Sugar & Spice (khaki, gold tones).
